Hi...

I'm considering getting a Coverit shelter for my tractor & other equipment... round style... about 12'wide x 28' or 36'long x 10'tall...
Standard 16mil cover fabric...

$800 & $1,200 plus anchors ~$112 and $40 rollup door...

This will be in Vermont... 40lb snow load... no one to clear snow off...

Are these quality structures?
One person assembly?
Assembly time?
Hold up?
Opinions ?

Kinda like this one...

Dave,

Between my brother and I we own 5 cover-its. Strongly recommend them. Be careful of the standard fabric though, it does not hold up well.

There is a dealer in Uxbridge Mass, that might be able to help you. I don't know if it is against the rule to post his name and number, email privately if you want it: mbrule@rcn.com.

I am looking into buying a shelter myself. I beleive BJ's has some for $299. I remember seeing some early this summer. I don't remember who made them, but they were winter rated, Roof and back side, for $299. I haven't been back since but I am planning on getting there soon to check them out again.

I was one of the first Cover-It owners around here..... bought mine from the owner of the company when I first met him at the swap meet at Carlisle PA and he was trying to get the company off the ground. Mine was a "second" because it had been returned as defective. The cover was not cut right, so I had to shorten the frame at one end. It was supposed to be 20' X 40" and after some trimming, it is about 39'. It has held up well and the only problem is that one seam has separated where they are heat sealed. I purchased the anchor kit but was never able to get the screw anchors into the ground because the ground was too hard. I have never used anything to hold it down, but it is surrounded by trees and has never moved. I would highly recommend it.... web page

Mine is not a "Cover-it" brand. It is a "Clearspan" brand distributed by "FarmTek" Farmtek
It is the classic 2 car garage and is 26wx 24lx 12h. Delivered it as $1578. I know there price has gone up some but for the money, it can't be beat. White interior and a 6' wide clear ridge to let light in, 2 8'x8' doors with a roll up mechanism. Their latest catalog has some really good close out deals in it.
I am going into my 2nd winter with mine and it has been the best $ I ever spent.

I have a Cover- It about 5 years old. It is out in a field
in Maine no trees. It is starting to flake off on the inside.
I would be surprised if the cover lasts two more years. Please tell me more about a heavier fabric. Where do you buy it?

Thank you,

I have a Cover-it round roof style that's 12'x20' x 14'high going on it's 2nd year. I placed it on a 25'x20' concrete pad that I poured for my future shop. It's anchored with 4 concrete anchors per side (it only comes with 2 per side) and has withstood gusts to 65mph and sustained 40mph winds several times. It seems to be holding up well to the weather found here in the PNW. Assembly is definitely a 2 person job (my wife and I did it in about 6 hours) and I highly recommend the use of an air ratchet to help cut down on the assembly time, it seemed like there were a bajillion bolts for the frame.

I wish that I'd ordered a unit that fit the pad diminsions rather than one that would fit on the pad...hindsight...If I had a need I'd buy another with no hesitation.

I called today to price a new cover for my Cover-It.... checked the measurements and it is 22 x 40 x 14. The new cover was about $600 for the 1 year warranty cover.... that they said should last about 5 years.... and $1000 for the upgrade cover... didn't say how long that one would last. Mine is 10 years old and has one or two seam failures, but the cover is still in good shape overall. It never gets much sun and is protected by the trees. I think that I am going to find some material and make a patch for mine.... For the price of a new cover I can't justify it..... only paid $800 back in '93.
