I recently got a Tuffline 6.5 ft 22" disc. I was supprised to see how the outer rear disc cut some ruts especially set at the deepest angles. I bought a set of cover discs but once I had them on not sure which way the outer disc goes.

I think the curve of the outer "cover disc" goes opposite the curve of the rear disc.

Thanks

You were right mounting them the same way as the other disks in the back set. The back set will always leave a slight ridge. That is the nature of the beast. You can control the amount of ridging some what by changing the angle with the top link but you are never going to eliminate it completely.

I never knew the was a set of cover disks like you found. Be sure to send some pictures after you get it mounted and show us how it works.

The "cover" discs you are referring to are known as furrow fillers. The disc blade is smaller than the blades on the main gang, and thus will not cut as deeply, leaving a very small furrow.

The proper way to mount it is like you have it in picture #3381. In other words, the concave portions of all the blades should be oriented the same.

If you are still leaving too big a furrow, you may want to disassemble your gang, and replace the last blade with one that is one size smaller than the balance of the blades. Then step down one additional size for the furrow filler, and you will leave a perfectly level field behind you.

Hope this is clear, if not, shout, and I will try and explain better.

2nd from last picture is correct way to mount them. They fill in most of the last cut.
