Couple Questions if You don't mind

I went and looked at a couple tractors last week and I am a little confused. I am going to get either a Kubota 3540, with 724 loader or a 4240 with the 854 loader. My question is this. All the Grand 40 series are the same tractor "basically" just different horsepower, correct?? If so which do I need for a little brush hogging, Loader work (mostly getting logs to my sawmill) maybe a rear finish mower and plowing my driveway. I know the 4240 with the 854 Loader has more lifting capacity so I am leaning that way. However do I need more horsepower even though I don't see needing any big PTO horespower?
Right now I have a Bobcat S-250 Slidsteer with cab and heat and two speed. It's a great machine and I will miss the lift capacity when I sell it. I use it for commercial snow removal and moving logs but thats it, and this is my last year in the snow removal business. So I think I will get a lot more use out of the tractor even though I will lose some lift capacity.

Well. sort of the same as far as features. But in comparing the specs, there are some things that might be important to some people and not to others; things such as the difference between a 3 cylinder engine vs. the 4 cylinder engine, 3.5" longer, 6.7" wider, a couple of hundred pounds heavier, in addition to 6 or 7 more horses. What size brush hog do you intend to use. Some folks use a rule of thumb of 5 hp per foot of width for a mower; not an absolute by any stretch of the imagination, since there are light, medium, and heavy duty mowers, light grass to cut vs. heavy brush, etc., but a good place to start.

So, do you need the additional horsepower; only you can say.

Bird, Thanks for the welcome and quick reply. I guess I will just have to study the specs some more and get solid quotes on a couple different models and decide if a few more H.P. is worth it to me or not

IMHO, for handling logs a heavier tractor is always nicer. It may not really need the power, but the extra mass makes a worthwhile difference. They'll both do the job, the bigger one just feels better with a load on the forks. According to the specs, the rear rubber is enough bigger for 300 lb more ballast liquid too.
