Whoa... those guys had ALL KINDS of fun!! At least they were able to get the machines out of the bog without a long delay and having the machines froze in for a month or two.

Know a guy who ended up with an early retirement 'cause he lost a rental JD 200C in a bog. It was a major goat rope that got drawn out for more than 2 months with the hoe froze in. Total loss of the machine.

Thanks for the thread. Good pics.

An interesting problem has just developed across the road from me. A 60 ton, 10 wheel crane backed down the hill to erect precast concrete walls for a new house. Now its stuck. Its built itself into a tight space and now it can't straighten up sufficently to get a decent run back up the hill. The ground is soft from recent rain. If the ground was dry and firm it would be able to inch its way around until its facing in the right direction, but at the moment its actually sideways to the slope that its trying to climb, and its just digging itself in. I feel sympathy for them, but this should make for an entertaining weekend.

Pre-cast concrete walls on factories are common enough but apparently this is the first domestic house to be built like this in this state. The walls are a sandwich construction with about 3 inches of concrete each side of a foam core.

Sounds like one of those situations that you just hate to be in yourself, but interesting to observe.

Any pictures?

Its nice to watch pro's at work. They got there about 7 am and managed somehow to turn this thing in the mud so it was facing up the hill. (Its a 6 wheel steer Grove crane like the one in the pic). Then a whopper 120 ton tow truck arrived. (The nose of the tow truck was parked in my drive) then they ran a cable across the street and down to the crane, and dragged it about 40 feet to the top of the hill. Then they had to move the tow truck again to make more space. Took about 2 hours altogether. I didnt take any pics. They wouldn't have done it justice anyway.
