What weight should a Jd 2720 carry on 3pt when using loader

i use a JD ballast box with about 75 pounds of scrap iron that is covered with 4 bags of Portland cement. If i am loading heavy soil or using the pallet forks with something heavy, i will throw in another 150 pounds of steel on top of the cement.

IIRC, in an ideal world, the counterweight should be roughly equivalent to the weight in the bucket.

The Operator's Manual for the Loader will specify the rear ballast requirements. You can find the manuals on the JD website.

I use my 5ft box blade. I'm often using it while doing loader work so it makes life easier.

Having your twin in black /yellow paint i use 700lbs. Feels perfect to me with that amount.
No need to guess. The JD 200CX manual is quite clear on what the recommended MINIMUM ballast is.
REQUIRED MINIMUM BALLAST FOR 2320, 2520, 2720, 4100, 4110 AND 4115 TRACTORS
Option-1: Fluid-filled rear tires and 350 kg (772 lb) of 3-Point Hitch Ballast2
Option-2: Three rear wheel weights per wheel and 350 kg (772 lb) of 3-Point Hitch Ballast2
If loader is equipped with pallet fork attachment, 85 kg (187 lb) of additional ballast is required.
Again - these are MINIMUM values
