There's always a weak link somewhere, Tim. Plus, we're not just talking about liesurely turns on pavement or level dry ground.

2WD get's its tight turning capability through application of differential braking. Sometimes it's needed to get the beasts to turn at all. I've done many a brake dance on muddy hillsides when steering had virtually no effect. It works and can be quite precise....but takes a toll on the brakes and won't work at all if the brakes don't. So there's your weak link with 2WD turning.

Even if your brakes work perfectly, the klutz behind the wheel has to keep the brake pedals straight in the heat of a tight, fast and possibly dangerous turn. Again, another weak link.

So I've found 4WD to be a huge plus when turning in sloppy conditions. It does a lot of the work that you'd normally have to do with brakes thereby saving the brakes for when they're really needed. Saves some mistakes too. Admittedly, hard differential braking combined with 4WD doesn't seem to let you turn "on a dime" like a hard braked turn in 2WD will do; but how often can you do that anyway? If you're pulling a drawbar implement, it'll be into the rear tire if you try it....PTO won't like it either. If the implement's hanging on the 3PH, there will be a heckuva side load if you don't raise it.

About the only time I've found diff. braking needed with 4WD is when the fronts are loosing traction due to mud or snow. Just a touch of braking will do alot to help them along.

The Bi-Speed turn feature is not a new feature.

I have a B2150 which has it. It is a gearing set-up which engages and turns the front wheels faster when you turn the steering wheel more than about 30 degrees.

I was told it was develped for the orchard industry who had to cut around numerous trees and needed something that could turn pretty sharply.

I can tell you I use it all the time when I cut the grass with my belly mower.

It's great ! I am glad to see they have resurrected the feature.

The owners manual warns NOT to use it if using the FEL because of the quick/sudden turns it makes.

carverequipment had a link which showed all the new models, now there's just a form you can fill out and check which models your interested in and someone will get back to you.. i would think kubota would want people to get hyped by seeing what's to come. on a side note, i talked to my dealer today about the new B series and he said he had brochures about all of them so what's the fuss about having a website post the info.. lame.. anyway he said the new b30's were going to have similar hydraulics as the b26.. maybe next year i'll look at trading my 3400 in so i can have a mid-pto option and other added features..

Don't get to excited as the market couldn't use enough of them before when they were here. in the late eighties and early ninties. Kubota offers different configurations all across the world to meet the local demand.

There were no changes to that group of tractors for us in the US at this time. The smaller B-series chassis did get revamped.

The bi-speed turning sounds like it could be useful, just not on your front lawn. Having the front wheels pulling harder would help reduce the tendancy to plow straight while turning.

I purchased my B3030 a month ago, have mowed with it and found that it was much better at tight turns than my previous NH TC21D. The NH had turf tires but i was always cutting the turf when making the turn to go back the other way, eventhough I was trying very hard not to do so. I was expecting the same thing, or worse, with the Kubota, which has R4's, but to my surprise there is significantly less turf cutting. I was surprised and wondered if it were the tractor or just my imagination. but this clears things up a bit with the bi-speed turn.

after viewing the site I was wondering if Kubota always put cabs on smaller units, I thought the 3030 was the smallest unit with a cab, but I see two smaller units with cabs now. Has it always been this way?

The B3030 does not have the bi-speed turn option! That's just the combination of gearing and angles that the front axle components use.

As bizdoc stated, the tight turning radius is among the many features of the 3030 that impress me.

The tractors sold in the U.K and other parts of the world ARE NOT the same as what we have here. None of our B-series tractors have or will have Bi-speed turn. Its available on some of the M-series machines, but in our market thats it. Its on the E.U models because overthere there is almost no CUT market (I know, i just got back from Germany yesterday). Almost all their machines are sold in the Orchard business, thus Bi-Speed is included.

I've never owned a New Holland tractor but they have had a "Super Steer" option available for several years. Their sales people make a big deal out of it (maybe it is a big deal). I always felt the standard Kubota 4wd tractor had a pretty good turning radius on the five L series and one M series tractors I've owned over the past 30 years.
