Cost of 100Hr maintenance

I'm bringing tractor in to have remotes added and figured I'd let them do 100hr maintenance.

I plan to have them replace Hydraulic Fluid with Super UDT and Filter. He said the cost of fluid was like $55.00

I plan to change oil myself.

I asked him how much will it cost. Which would include Fuel Filters.

He said around $425.00

That seems awfully high?

What do you think?

I may have them just do hydraulics, which is messy and I rather them do that.

Did the 50 and 100 at same time including pickup ($20 fee) it was $322 with tax

Id have the dealer mount the remotes and change the oil myself. Its cheaper and there is a certain level of pride in doing your own repairs.

Since hydraulic oil is "clean", unlike diesel oil, I would give serious consideration to buying the materials (Kubota) wherever they are cheapest and just do it yourself. Being familiar with the underside of your machine, on your terms, isn't a bad thing! $425 seems pretty high, to me.

If transportation is included in that price, I would do it. Have him do the oil change too, why be a piker?

I am way to far from the dealer to bring it in for any kind of service. As my Kubota is still under warranty it was still way cheaper for me to do a warranty repair myself (couple O-rings on a Hydraulic line). I am sure I paid not more then $200 for the two Hydraulic filters, Super UDT, engine oil filter and engine oil for my B3200. I am sure Kubota would be very detailed in their bolt tightening and do other things they know what to look out for. Doing it myself means doing a 400 hr service at 200 hrs. I believe the Hydraulic oil needed changing at 200 hours and almost 4 years of age.

Transportation is another $120.00 !!

So it would be $545.00 without changing Engine Oil with pick up/delivery. It's about a 30 minute Drive.

Plus I'm having them do a $1500.00 Job on it.

I'd prefer not deal with changing Hydraulic fluid myself. I do tons myself. I pick and choose. If I was not sending it in for Remotes I would have done it all myself. But since it's there I figured I might as well have them do the service.
Didn't know they were gonna rip me off on service. The price on rear remotes seemed quite reasonable.

I want to do engine oil myself because I want to use Mobile 1.

For my 300 hr service the only thing that was a problem was the hydraulic filters were to be changed(not the fluid). My tractor holds 46 qts. of fluid. That's over 10 gal. and was a little scary to think about. The manual calls for the entire system to be drained, filters replaced and then refilled with old fluid. (Fluid to be replace at 600 hrs).

A neighbor came over to give me a hand and it went well. Drained most of the fluid out, swapped out filters (about & $70 for 2). Putting the fluid back in the tractor(2 /5gal. buckets) was a bit of a pain because of the location of the filler cap. I'm not looking forward to the 600 hr. service as the current best price for the hydraulic fluid is $204. And I'm sure the price will increase by the time I need it.

So the service was easy enough, but next time I hope to find a day where the temp isn't in the 90's and the humidity isn't 95%.

I did my 50 hr service myself. Got the bottom of the engine and transmission nice and clean, then let it dry. Got a Rubbermaid clothes bin - roughly 24x18x12" to catch the 11 gallons and drained it with no issues. Gave it a good, close look with a magnet & flashlight, ten gave it the sniff test. Then poured it back into the transmission using a funnel & plastic pitcher. Put the pitcher in the clothes bin, snapped the top on to seal it up and tossed it up in the shed loft for the next time I might need it. Easy-peasy.
