Cost of 100Hr maintenance

Your decision and your money. But fluid and filter should be in the $100 range for you to buy yourself.

Its an easy job and should take less than an hour to do. If you are willing to give the dealer an extra $325 to drain, replace filter, and pour a new bucket of fluid in, then go for it.

Aw, do it yourself. Buy the material, take your time, and save yourself some money.

For my 300 hr service the only thing that was a problem was the hydraulic filters were to be changed(not the fluid). My tractor holds 46 qts. of fluid. That's over 10 gal. and was a little scary to think about. The manual calls for the entire system to be drained, filters replaced and then refilled with old fluid. (Fluid to be replace at 600 hrs).

A neighbor came over to give me a hand and it went well. Drained most of the fluid out, swapped out filters (about & $70 for 2). Putting the fluid back in the tractor(2 /5gal. buckets) was a bit of a pain because of the location of the filler cap. I'm not looking forward to the 600 hr. service as the current best price for the hydraulic fluid is $204. And I'm sure the price will increase by the time I need it.

So the service was easy enough, but next time I hope to find a day where the temp isn't in the 90's and the humidity isn't 95%.

I have been doing this for a long time 40 years and have never drained fluid and then put it back in machine. I will change filters and not hyd oil. just what I would do

I never said it was $425.00 for just hyd fluid & hyd filter. I expect that to be around $125.00 or so.

It was $425 to do all maintenance except engine oil change. Fuel Filter, Radiator, Hyd Fluid, Hyd Filter, Grease and what ever. Which still seemed high.

Likewise....Did my 50hr engine oil and filter and transmission filter replacement a few months ago on my B2650HSDC. Removed and replaced the HST filter and lost maybe a cup of UDT in the process....

Like MSWLOGO says, more to a 50 hour then an oil change. Lots of bolts to check, retighten. With my B3200 the one I am not looking forward to is the 800 hour that requires Valve adjustment. Though that is likely 5 years away and I will be retired with lots of time to spend on that project.

No, you didnt specifically say that that $425 was just for that. But you also didnt mention anything else either. Other than you thought it seemed high and wondered what we all thought.

So....Without knowing what the dealer is going to do for the $425 charge, how can anyone judge if it is too high?

IF he is going to spend several hours going through the machine, adjusting clutch and brakes, changing front ale fluid, hydraulic fluid and filter, change fuel filter, change air filter, flush and change coolant, grease everything.....then I would think $425 is a fair deal.

IF he is charging $425 for just the hydraulics and 15 minutes of other work, then yea thats high.

But I have no idea what your 100hr service calls for...

If you have no idea then why say anything?

It's pretty standard what's done at 100hr service across the line See

I have never owned more than 1 Kubota. So I have never viewed the 100hr service requirements for other machines. No idea if they are standard or not, every machine is different. Plus there bus a lot of bs on a 100 hr check (or so I assume) like checking torque of bolts, fan bely tension, inspect hoses, etc. Have no idea if dealer does them or bills for them or just trusts his mechanics to give things a once-over.

The tone of the original post indicated $425 was hydraulics, not the whole service. So I gave my opinion based on that as you weren't very clear.

Without knowing exactly what they are going to do, or without knowing exactly what just the hydraulics portion cost (which clearly you don't) how can anyone offer advise as to what seems high and what is reasonable?
