I wish that those of you who feel the need to get threads closed would take it someplace else. Some of us would like to read about it and there was some good information getting passed along, until the usual suspects felt the need to get it closed down. Again; if you need to snipe at each other please take it someplace else.

Agreed very informative thread it would be ashamed to see it closed

I agree with ya and just enjoyed reading. I just wish those offending posts got pulled or the posters were suspended without closing the thread.

Unfortunately, so much of the info out there is false and fear based. Fear is obviously a strong emotion. If you’ve fallen into fear it’s likely going to trigger a reaction. That coupled with what I’ll call “the times” and an entire “machine” working overtime to blame this on a person or persons and you get reactions.

Let’s try this-

219 Novel Coronavirus (219-nCoV) Situation Summary | CDC

.....average person doesn’t need a mask
......no travel restrictions inside the USA
......acting similar to other coronaviruses from years past
......acting similar to the “normal” or every year flu

I agree about the thread closing. Hope I'm not a contributor to that.

Thanks for getting #3 started.

Good stuff here guys.

I was thinking about the words of a Pennsylvania girl who wrote a song called "You need to calm down" as I was reading thread #2. I thought it was a pretty timely discussion with a certain amount of distracting static. I hope we can keep this one going because the covid-19 story seems to be changing hour by hour.

Yes, things change real fast. I saw a vid of Costco in Washington and the customers cars were lined up outside.
They said it was the busiest day since Christmas eve, TP bleach and the usual flu stuff, it sounds like people are preparing but are a little late in doing so.
Common sense needs to prevail..

3rd times a charm, lets keep non political...

I'm going to bring Pennwalk's post over from the last thread. I found his link helpful.

Unfortunately this can be a part of the problem......

Bullet point right at the top is claiming a 2% death rate. But buried in the “story” they claim many (tens of thousands) could be infected and not know or not report (like didn’t go to the doctor because they didn’t feel good for a few days- which is normal). This makes the 2% death rate complete crap stats!!! So if they are talking out their butt (lying) with the bullet point in the first part of the “story” what can you trust in the rest of it!?!? “Fruit of a poisonous tree”

We went to our local Costco yesterday to buy a new TV. It wasn't any busier than normal, and everyone seemed to be buying ordinary things, mostly food items. No panic here. I thought it was a nice gesture that the greeter was wiping off every cart handle with a disinfectant wipe.

That's the kind of simple thing which we should be doing anyways, yet many people including me aren't very diligent about. OTOH when they make a sink available I like to wash my hands when going into a store if I've been working; barring that I will grab one of those disposable produce bags to put my hand into while handling food items including packaged goods. I get some pretty funny looks sometimes, and had a few snide comments; yet I've also had checkout clerks thank me.

Has anyone heard or seen an explanation of exactly what "community transmission of the infection" means??

Are they saying that this virus occurs naturally and it just starts showing up on its own??

How are they explaining the problem??

Methinks somebody is lying and it is likely a person in the so called community that is not honest about where they have been or who they have been around...

Here we go again... This one (thread) won't last long either.

I wish the moderators would just pull the opinionated BS posts out and leave the sane content behind. Better yet, remove not only the comments but the poster as well....:confused2:

I'm afraid that at some point we will be on thread number 10....

Amazing. I'm on a couple other forums where the Wuhan Flu discussion stays normal. Not here, Gets stupid almost from the get go. I'll be reading along on this and the other ones as they get locked.

Heard that we had our first death from the Corona Virus, and over 16,000 from the flu here in the US. I don't see the issue.

Dr Drew sums it up very well in that video!!!

Remember all those things your mother told you when you were a kid?

- Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze
- Wipe your nose with a tissue and throw it away, not on your sleeve
- Keep your hands away from your mouth
- Wash your hands frequently using soap and water
- Don't share drinks or utensils

They still apply.

Received in an Email

Possibly some or all of the following are true?

1) The virus was man made
2) The virus is very contagious
3) The virus kill or "severe" rate is high enough to be very worrisome
4) The virus survivors can get re-infected
5) The virus survivors have damaged lungs and heart
6) The virus requires drastic, long term measures to contain
7) The virus will disrupt life as we know it
8) The virus affects older or ill people more
9) The virus has no vaccine and no effective treatment

If we believe any of the above, then we well better be concerned.
