Yep. My doctor had a smoker's gravely voice when I was a kid. He scared me. He was a sour grumpy old man.
The way this Wuhan Flu is spreading, I'd say smoking or lack of is the least of your worries.

IIRC, the issue with smoking is that it makes your lungs less efficient which makes you more vunerable to getting pneumonia. This statement makes no sense.
A flue that doesn't kill you, is just the flu. If "smoking" enables the flu virus to overcome your defenses, and kills you then, smoking is, make that was, a big worry.
I think the variable is genetics. My Grandpa was a lifelong smoker and drinker. Lost a lung in WWII, kept on smoking and lived to be 85. Go figure.Doesn't seem right, does it? :confused3:
Be tough dip snuff.
That's one thing I only tried a couple times and said "Blech!"
I preferred Redman for a while. Every few years I'll buy a pouch, chew for an hour or two, then toss it.
Same thing with cigars. We used to smoke em when we went fishing once or twice a year. Haven't done that for at least 25 years.
This will be the 3rd time quiting. Its astronomical how hard it is....
Curious, how long does one not smoke before you consider it quiting? I'd think quiting is quiting done.
One constant theme is caution for those 60 and older...
SF has said those 60 and older should take special precautions???
Oakland will receive the cruise ship Grand Princess that has been offshore circling the last few days...
I cannot recall the last time a cruise ship has docked in Oakland... the terminal is a freight terminal and set up for containers.
On a separate note... one side of the family seems to have excellent genes and the other not quite as robust.
My Dairy Farmer Grandfather had never been to the Doctor once in his life until in his late 80's when he lost 3 fingers in a farm accident in the woods and was rushed to the ER...
Mom and all of her 9 brothers and sisters all delivered at home... some with midwife most by Grandpa...
He drank raw cow milk daily... relished fat and would even ladle it on for Sunday supper... early to bed and early to rise 7 days a week... only time he ever travel more than 50 miles from the farm was his trip to California back in 1967... said that one trip gave him a lifetime of memories.
Maybe being rural and somewhat self contained with their own staples cut down on the disease factor which is totally unlike modern living where everyone goes everywhere...
