Greetings all,
Could someone explain what Corn Subsidies are? I'm about to go on the war path now that I've seen how much money is being spent on these, "Corn Subsidies". I'm seeing millions of tax dollars being given to people who are quite well off and it appears these people are milking the system (system = our tax $)
Google "EWG", put in your Zip code and see.
I just can't believe what is going on here. What am I missing??? Where's the outrage???

Is this a John Deere owning and operating issue?

There is currently little to no corn subsidy.

Probably, but it would take some doing. Government payments to farmers and accompanying restrictions are determined by the "Farm Bill," the current legislation being the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008. Here's a link that gives a broad-brush overview.

watch great documentary film "Corn"

corn subsidy, means lots of corn, means cheap corn, means cheap beef, means cheap sugar, means cheap chicken, means cheap groceries. US grocery prices are lowest in the world

Well said Carykong. Before you complain about the subsidy, it would probably be a good idea to start farming, raising crops, or milking cows.

The reason that farmers are subsidized is from artificially low food prices. With the prices of fuel, land, labor, equipment,.....going up it cost more and more to make the same amount of food but we all want unreasonably low food prices so the government supports the farmers to please us. If the government didn't subsidize farming, we would either be starving or paying high food prices. I wouldn't start bashing the farmers or the government (at least on this) until you are willing to pay for food what it is really worth, or enough so the farmers can get by.

Take care,
