My '03 BX has only 195 hrs but I noticed the coolant expansion container was low so I added fluid up to the mark and went out and worked for a few hours. I noticed an antifreeze smell a few times and checked to find the container almost empty again. does anyone know of any "normal" places to start looking? I don't find any drips under the tractor when it's parked on the pavement. Everything is so tight and tiny in there I have a real hard time seeing. By the time I'm close 'nuff to see the old eyes get out of focus. (must be a tractor defect)

TIA

Hi Ken…
If it’s not leaking on the outside, it is then leaking on the inside… Check the oil, how’s it look? You can smell it at times, so that could be in the exhaust… check for a light condensed film inside the pipe, before the muffler and pipe get too hot… KennyV.

If it runs hot you may be pushing it out the overflow. My BX22 gets hot about every time I mow. It's been so dry and dusty here that the radiator plugs with dust. I have to wash out the radiator fins a couple of times a season.

Ken have you looked at the screen where the radiator is? This is a very common issue with the BX series. Also when your using the machine watch to see if the temp gauge rises on you. If it does then it's probably going out of the overflow weep line on the radiator tank reservoir.

If it isn't that then see the post above about a head leak.

Trucky,
I have had to replace a few defective radiator caps on Kubotas because the pressure release did not work properly on the caps. The cooling system would build up to much pressure and push most of the coolant out the overflow. Sometimes the cap release is just stuck and you can push on it to make sure it has proper movement. But I would say 2 out of 3 caps are defective in this case. Also make sure the rubber seal is good and clean.
