Canada's finest coming in for a landing. I heard these assholes a mile away, so I was ready when they came into view. Did not turn out to bad for taking it through a dirty bay window.

This evening I went to feed horses and I hear all this noise. This large bird was in the barn and I couldn't get it out. Up in coupola I have a fan so I tried it on-off a few times, garden hose, alarm sireen. I had drive through doors open and finally flew out. I was thinking some kind of falcon. It doesn’t look like the hawks we see around here, which would be Redtails or similar.

Where I am in East Texas, we have Red Shoulder Hawks. They are pretty small and mostly eat mice and rats. They follow me around when I'm bush hogging. Sometimes they eat my baby chicks. They are too small to kill my chickens, but one time we had one try, and it ended up in the pond. It survived, but it stood at the side of the pond afterwards with its wings out until it was dry enough to fly away.

I did a quick search of Red Shoulder Hawk images, and it looks like a juvenile one based on the markings on its chest.

We got a pair across the street hanging out with the cattle.

I was preoccupied getting my wife inside for her ortho appointment or I would have had a really good picture in the city of some.

It was the first time I've ever seen geese hanging out on top of a building.

One of the geese was strutting around and flapping his wings up there like he was king on his thrown

Canadian geese don't bother migrating around here, they stick to open waterways that have grassy areas, road sides and are aggressive, and fill waterways with crap, making them toxic.

I blame the businesses who put in water features, which attracted the geese by the thousands.
Why move on when they have a temperate location with food and running water....

A few pictures from home. The small patch of 50 tulips and large 1,000 tulips patches are just starting to come up & bloom. Rabbits love tulips so I had to put electric fences around them. I planted a few peach trees in Fall & they're starting to bloom. I planted magnolias years ago, from pink to dark purple. The crooked tree with pink flowers is a white peach.

Our forecast is for snow showers for the next week. Nothing is blooming yet around here. Only sign of spring is that in some places the grass is sprouting green.

I have a few daffodils sticking up an inch or so. Every time it warms for a day or two the cold slams it back down. Everything is grey and depressing.
Not cold enough to snow and whiten things but too cold for the greening to start.
