Here are some pictures from a trip I took to Kinzua Bridge State Park (Pennsylvania) on Saturday.
It's been half a dozen years since I was there last. Turns out they've built a pretty nice visitor center / park office since then.
It was a dreary day so I decided to shoot B&W, which I haven't done for a while. Kind of refreshing to change it up.
When I left home (near Pittsburgh) it was 45ー and no snow on the ground. When I got to Kinzua it was 30ー and 6" of snow.
I ended up hiking down to the valley floor to get some better shots. A very steep, icy, and muddy trek.
Then, apparently being a glutton for punishment, I hiked up the OTHER side to get even more pictures.
Somewhere along the way, while heading up the far side of the valley, through all the briars, I lost my favorite Carhartt beanie out of my coat pocket.
Luckily, I found it on the way back down, stuck in a briar patch.
That was a long day hiking down and back up twice. Especially since I had forgotten my sandwich and drink in the car!
Here are some of the shots I took.
(As usual, click to enlarge.)
Hope you enjoy.
The briar scratches on my hands are still healing.
BTW, here's the history of the bridge for anyone not familiar with it's story.
