Conveyor chain substitutes

Building my own conveyor and need to know of a good substitute for the "wide flanged chain Link" commonly used?? I would still like to attach angle iron between the 2 chains to move material.. I'm thinking of using roller chain but not sure how to attach the angle iron. By the way, why is chain so expensive /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Try searching for detachable link chain. That is what is used in manure spreaders. Tractor SUpply sometimes stocks it in #55 size along wtiht he attachenets to attach bars.
