Can a 2wd Ford 345C tractor be converted to a 4wd with bolt on parts or is there something majorly different?

I think it would be wiser to sell 2 wd and buy a 4 wd unit. I would not want to consider the $$$$ to do this or the modifacations needed.

I agree. Way eaier to buy one setup like you like.

As an example.. I bought a ford with a FEL a few ys ago.. got it for 3500$.. I bought another ford, and a loader frame.. and the hyds and am piecing it together.. i'll have nearly 5k$ in it when done.. i shoulda just bought another complete unit!!

Yeah, it's kind of like building a street rod -- the thing would never sell for what you have in it, usually not even close. Besides that, the factory item will work better since all the pieces were designed for that application from the start. You'd be looking at a transfer case, major work on the tranny, steering bits, etc. just to get started. Parts always cost more than the whole.

You can convert but you would never re-coup the investment cost in terms of resale. You are talking major components getting swapped out and a complete teardown. I would sell the 2wd and buy a 4wd unit.
