We've got an International 444 diesel. It uses the oil bath & wire mesh system for the air filter.

In three words: I hate it

I've already converted the arcane oil filter canister to a spin on.

Want to do something similar to this. I've been doing a google search and thus far, haven't found anything. Then I got to wondering....could I get something like an aftermarket K&N filter system that will mount to (what I believe to be) a 2" pipe.

We've already lost the mushroom thing that mounts on top of the air tube on the top of the engine sheet metal. So, clean out the oil bath, remove the wire mesh if possible (one is easily removed, the upper seems stuck)

Take something like a K&N or other brand that will slip over the 2" tube and simply let something like that filter the air before it even gets to the oil bath (which would be an empty chamber per this idea)

Thoughts on the idea or, have any knowledge of a filter that would fit INSIDE the factory oil bath chamber (with the guts and oil removed)
