Hello,
I'm getting ready to build a FEL for my Ford 1100 and am thoroughly confused on which control valve to use. With all of the different configurations ( open and closed center, floating, power beyond, spring return, detent, 1,2, and 3 spools, etc ) I'm just not sure what to use. I'm going to try and use the on-board pump and reservoir even though I'm sure it will be a pretty slow loader, but that's ok with me. Any help would be greally appreciated.

If your tractor hyd system is open center, where a gear pump is pumping fluid all the time, then this valve will work for you..

Here is your basic FEL valve.

Has float, regen, and PB.

2 SPOOL COMPACT 10 GPM JOYSTICK CONTROL VALVE

If you don't think your hyd is good enough, you could mount a hyd pump on the front crank shaft or drive a hyd pump using a V belt.

Excerpt:

The 1100 tractor also is equipped with a loader that is run by a hydraulic system. The loader has the ability to carry about 540 lbs. and can dump cargo within four seconds. The bucket is able to lift to heights of 70 inches, in which it takes approximately 6 seconds to reach from the ground level. The loader's 40-degree angle also allows operators to easily maneuver the payload in hard-to-access places.

I'll add to what J_J stated that your tractor requires an open center valve.
