Gravely 5200
I got a 5200 given to me and I am going to take this on as a restore project. I've steam cleaned the housing to do a repaint. As I start to disassemble I am taking note of the parts that will need to be replaced. I see that the Control Level Threaded rods that are used to adjust the forward/ reverse lever and the Hi/Low are rusted really bad to the point most of the threads are missing. No way to mover or adjust them. I looked up the parts and they are over a hundred dollars for the rods. Kind of high for 2 stepped threaded rods. My question is have any of you manufactured your own rods out of two different pieces of all thread? If so how did you join them together and keep them lined up straight? Thanks in advance.

Now I know what you was talking about your e-mail to me.

How about taking the larger bolt drilling through and tapping it.
For a piece of all thread to fit.

Maybe tack weld a bit only if need be?

Sounds like that might work. I'll see what I have once I start trying to take those out of the lever rods. Guess I can figure out what is going to be really needed then. Thanks
