IHI 35J needs a shot of either each morning to start. Starts fine the rest of the day. Runs like a sewing machine.

Check the compression first. It should have 440 psi. I just rebuilt one.

What involved in doing a compression test? I done it on gas engines but never diesel. Does the engine in the IHI have sleeves? It sound like parts for the IHI is not very common.

I pulled the glow plugs. You’ll need a diesel compression gauge kit. Which will have the correct threads. I brought one for Harbor freight for cheap. Three cylinders don’t have sleeves but four cylinders do. Ihi is a good machine new name is Kato
