Re: confused about different Kabota models

Bonnie -- Instead of giving you a long winded reply, I'd submit that nothing can take the place of a trip to your local dealers. Sit on them. Drive them around. Ask questions. Inspect the service dept. See if you get a better feel for one dealer over the others, and one tractor over the others.

But before you visit the dealer, sit down and figure out exactly what your tractor will be used for. Your needs will drive your selection. Good luck.

Pete

i do not know the price differences but here are the dif. that i have figured out....the 7800 is identical to the 2910 EXCEPT...the 2910 have a nicer seat, nicer 3pt hitch adjustments, extending lower links on the 3pt hitch, and i belive a nicer cruise control. this is what i found on the kubota web site. the have the same tires, same loaders, same attachment sizes, same engine and transmission.

as for the 2710, this is the same frame as theother 2 just with a smaller engine, by 2 horse power.

hope this helps!

You might want to let your husband be involved in the final pick if he is the one that is going to be using the tractor. I know it would be great to surprise him but his body might fit one tractor better than another. You might be able to buy shoes in his size but he may not like the style, if you get my meaning. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: confused about different Kabota models

I don't think the B7800 has position control but instead has an up down lever that can be prepositioned. I imagine your husband and you would enjoy the B7800 just fine if you need that size machine. Also--it is K-U-B-O-T-A, Kubota, not Kabota. Goodluck. J

Re: confused about different Kabota models

The B7800 is a new cheaper version of the B2710-2910 that has been around for a while. It is basically the same tractor as a 2910 without the extra features the other fellows have stated. It's like comparing a XL Ford pickup to the top of the line Lariat. If you can do without the extra feautures of the 2910, the 7800 will do just fine. I believe the B7800 is about $1000 less than a B2710. The difference between the B7800 and a B2910 is close to $2500.. Someone else can maybe verify those prices. If a dealer has several 27-2910's in stock and only one B7800, you might get the better deal on a 27-2910.. Good luck and hope your husband enjoys.

Bonnie,

First...do you have a sister? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Second, as has been stated, the B7800 and B2910 will be pretty much functionally equivalent for any task.

When I bought my B2910 2 1/2 years ago, the B7800 wasn't available, but I opted for the B2910 over the B2710 and other B models not only for the extra power (I don't think my applications required it) but for some of those "convenience" features on the B2910.

The added features of the 3 pt. hitch hardware on the B2910 really save a lot of wear and tear on the back when trying to connect heavy implements. I don't use the cruise control that much and I didn't really notice the benefit of the seat until I developed a very painful back condition one year after I bought the tractor. The suspension seat on the B2910 eliminated just about all the jarring shocks that most other seats would have transmitted to my back.

If your husband is of average stature, he should be comfortable on any of these machines. I'm 6' 200 lbs. I've read complaints from larger folk that say the B series feels cramped.

I appreciate the idea of "surprise". Perhaps your local dealer can "drop one off" for the initial surprise and if your husband decides he wants another model it could be swapped and then the actual purchase can be made.

If the extra $$$ are not a concern, then the B2910 would be the one I'd recommend, mostly 'cause I've always been a "top of the line" kind of guy and it sometimes bugs me to know I could have bought a few more features for a few more dollars. It's a sickness, I know, but if your husband is also afflicted with a similar "illness", that is something to consider as well.

Please feel free to ask any questions. You'll find all sorts of help on this board.

Good Luck.

~Rick

P.S. If you do have a sister.....oops, never mind, my wife is coming.../w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Re: confused about different Kubota models

That is a great idea and I am certain my dealer would do it. Go with the model you like and have the dealer drop one off. If your husband wants a different one then the dealer will almost certainly trade at no cost.
Like I said, my dealer would love to do something like this.
By the way, my dealer owns a B2910-I recommend you do the same. The difference it costs you will not be very painful over the time your husband will be using the tractor.
Hope this helps!

Bonnie,
I just went through this, ordeal. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I ended up with a 7800. Now when I started looking, we will stay within the orange range, I looked at the BX, 7500 and the 2910. I narrowed it down to the 7500 , the 2710 and the 2910.

Then I went to the dealers for seat time.

I eliminated the 2910. Figuring I needed as many implements as I could get. Plus, I did not need the added "comfort" features.
I eliminated the 7500, too small.
Then just as............ I thought I was ready...... HP on the 2710, was a little less.... the 7800 came along.

So there it is. I went to two dealers looking at the 7800 only.

Good luck. And go sit on them!
