Re: confused about different Kubota models
Bonnie,
First...do you have a sister? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Second, as has been stated, the
B7800 and
B2910 will be pretty much functionally equivalent for any task.
When I bought my
B2910 2 1/2 years ago, the
B7800 wasn't available, but I opted for the
B2910 over the
B2710 and other B models not only for the extra power (I don't think my applications required it) but for some of those "convenience" features on the
B2910.
The added features of the 3 pt. hitch hardware on the
B2910 really save a lot of wear and tear on the back when trying to connect heavy implements. I don't use the cruise control that much and I didn't really notice the benefit of the seat until I developed a very painful back condition one year after I bought the tractor. The suspension seat on the
B2910 eliminated just about all the jarring shocks that most other seats would have transmitted to my back.
If your husband is of average stature, he should be comfortable on any of these machines. I'm 6' 200 lbs. I've read complaints from larger folk that say the B series feels cramped.
I appreciate the idea of "surprise". Perhaps your local dealer can "drop one off" for the initial surprise and if your husband decides he wants another model it could be swapped and then the actual purchase can be made.
If the extra $$$ are not a concern, then the
B2910 would be the one I'd recommend, mostly 'cause I've always been a "top of the line" kind of guy and it sometimes bugs me to know I could have bought a few more features for a few more dollars. It's a sickness, I know, but if your husband is also afflicted with a similar "illness", that is something to consider as well.
Please feel free to ask any questions. You'll find all sorts of help on this board.
Good Luck.
