Does anyone know the multiplier for concrete yardage, for a 4" pad? I know there's a multiplier that takes square footage and gives you the yards of concrete... but I don't know what it is/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Then hit "open calculator"

I usually just figure it by hand. If you are pooring a pad 4" thick (1/3 of a yard /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif), you just multiply the length times the width, divide by 3 to give you cubic feet. Then divide that number of 27 to get cubic yards (3 ft * 3 ft * 3 ft = 27).

So if the pad is 10 by 10 its....
10 times 10 = 100 square feet
100 / 3 = 33.34 cubic feet
33.34 / 27 = 1.25 cubic yards

Jon,
Your calculation is correct, but don't lead him astray......4" is not 1/3 yard. I thought 1/3 of a yard was 1' or 12".....just teasing /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Dad was in construction, and always said a yard of concrete would do 81 square feet at 4" thick. Of course that can be easily calculated, but I just divide the surface area in square feet by 81, then add for beams.

Your definately right...4" is a 1/3 of a FOOT /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Crikey

No wonder we took up metric system.

81m2 of concrete 100mm thick = 8.1m3 of concrete.

Bloody imperial system is a joke I reckon.

I do those calcs all day in my job (Cost Engineer) and I'd hate to try it using imperial.

Cheers

Neil:
Cubic measurements are nothing compared to barrel sizes in Imperial. Still don't know wether it's 36gal., 42 gal., or 45 gal. and if it's in English or American units.
A cubic meter is a cubic meter, that I can understand.
