Concrete Counter Tops

Nice job.. thanks for sharing.. I have been unable to convince my wife to let me try to put them in our kitchen.. I noticed what appeared to be a stainless steel section next to stove??

I included a stainless section so that hot pots can be set down directly on the counter top.

Good video and just to note, his attention to detail in the form work is very important for a pro result. It’s everything. The material cost is relatively low but you must make the time investment or you wind up with something that looks like a jagged sidewalk.

Advantages: 1) inexpensive ($30 concrete, $80 melamine, $150 colorant & additive), 2) if you screw up see advantage #1 3) not having to design around a granite slab 4) almost unlimited colors
Disadvantages: 1) concrete is more likely to stain than granite 2) sometimes just writing a check for something is better so you can go fishing 3) if you don't have lifting equipment, not a one person job

Friend of mine has them in his new house. He was also warned about setting something hot on the counter. But that would apply to any type.

Very well done. I found that all the stains that I tried didn't give me the black color I wanted, so I rubbed black ink into the counter. That worked great and I went from hating how it looked to really liking it, but the amount of frustration that went into getting the color right wasn't something that I would want to do again.

Great video. Is there some product or procedure that can make the counter top more stain resistant. Eddie - did the black ink help making it stain resistant? I REALLY DO like the look!!!
