Thanks, I had not found that one. My laptop is a A215-s7428 Toshiba and I had found a page where someone had done an XP install and it listed the problems and solutions for finding drivers. Toshiba does not support that model for XP. At least with a dual boot I won't have to change over until XP is working solidly.

I understand. I had a similar experience of teaching library volunteers when the local library computerized. That was Win 98SE and was hard enough.

Acronis True Image 11 works well with any drive.... just look at the RESTORE process... it's different between USB and internal drives... but, will work either way.

Timber, I've heard about people who lead charmed lives and envy them:D..... I just hope you don't make any changes to your diet, meds, addictions, or computers... else, the charm may fall away;)....may you continue to be happy with your computers and may they have a long life... oh, yes, if it's all working for you, best not do any updates...if it's working, don't fix it:eek:

I have ME on one system, XP on another system and Vista on my laptop. All three systems work well with the operating systems on them. I have not had any problems with Vista and actually prefer it over ME and XP. It is set up to be very user friendly.

The only downside to Vista is that I can't use a lot of programs I have from my other computers on it. But that is ok as most of them needed to be upgraded anyway. Now I have newer, better programs for Vista but I also have my old programs on my other computers also if for some reason I need one of them.

I, too, am one who likes Vista better. It ain't perfect by any means, but it has features I like better than XP. My complaints are (1) occasionally it will say Internet Explorer has stopped responding and will shut down; then it shuts down and starts again (not rebooting, but just closes Internet Explorer and then restarts it back at my home page), (2) my Norton Systemworks CleanUp has never worked right in the One Button Checkup, and (3) my Norton antivirus causes some pages to load a little slow, but I'm retired with more time than money, so it ain't too big a deal.

I think everyone can lead a charmed life, it is all in you point of view. Look at what is right with things instead of what is wrong with them. The difference between XP and Vista is that they are 2 different operating systems. There are just things you can do with 1 and not the other. It is relay very simple. I happen to like features in VISTA over XP but then their are programs that work better with XP so I just use that system for those features. But now Microsoft 7 will be out soon and we can do it all again LOL. Life is interesting and for ever changing. Enjoy the positive things in what you work with and acknowledge the difficult

At first reading this thread, I thought i was the only one not having issues with Vista. Then again, when it comes to computers, I am a simple simon. I just thought that people complained because as with everything new, people usually don't like change.
