Computer boot up time?

ok, 3 boots in a row using an asus netbook, 2g ram, winxp sp3, atom n290 processor, onboard wifi and built in ethernet, and a franklin broadband usb2 modem.

straight bootup to useable windoes desktop from an off stat, no hibernate or sleep.

32 seconds

ethernet active and IE can pop a useable window at 49 seconds

wifi reports connected and ei can pop a useable window at 51 seconds

franklin broadband drver loaded and connection establised and an ie window open at 1:16

NINE FANS....!!!!??? Is it so seriously overclocked there is that much heat to remove from the case? My Dell 530 has only the stock CPU cooler, plus the fan on the power supply. It is elevated about 7 inches about the floor and has good circulation on all sides and never seems to run hot.

It is seriously overclocked because my son built it to be the fastest computer around in 2002. It has 2 large fans on the power supply, one out the side and one out the rear. Two medium fans in front sucking in air, 3 small fans in the rear blowing out air and 2 fans on heat sinks. :confused2:

I am too lazy to read to whole thread, but empty desktop helps for faster boot.

On the desktop you should have nothing but shortcuts, but if you are like 99% of users and your desktop is full of files - like my wife - the boot will take longer time.

The way it works,what's on the desktop is supposed to be ready for immediate use - and the boot has to make it ready for it.
