A while back i made the comment that food prices had little or nothing to do with my menu prices and a couple folks suggested that i might be mistaken........

Unless I had something that no one else had........competition dictated my menus prices.

Food cost obviously had an impact on how much $ I lost that week but.......competitors prices, not food cost, drove menus prices.

FWIW.......it is a tuff tuff business, try to give the owners etc a little break.

BTW....my brother was a big mucky muck in the casino business, everything is free but lots and lots of tipping. In WI, Friday nite all you can eat fish is a big big deal. Can't get a table, can't get service, wait staff is surley because the pubic can be a-holes etc etc.

I will never forget, we had been waiting 45 minutes? when the waitress came for our group of maybe 8-10 to take us to our table. My brother very quietly stuck a $20 in her hand.....she almost pooped!

Best service we ever got, other customers were wondering....why are they getting such good service. In addition to an after meal tip, Tip up front, makes sense.

I thought kids menu was just a selection of dishes designed to appeal to the appetites of children, not to a fixed age group.
At our local dining establishments, anyone can order a kids meal, but it’ll be PBJ, Mac & cheese, etc.
Not many adults like those dishes, especially when there’s steak on the menu, but who are they to judge?

We have a local bar & restaurant that is excellent. We can walk there. It’s in the middle of the most quaint town with a few other small businesses. Has outdoor patio and rooftop deck outdoor dining as well. The bar is big and has artwork, fireplaces and some sports on big screen TV. Best food and selection. A great waiter we ask for by name and our favorite beers and wines. We over-tip our waiter and he takes amazing care of us. One of the owners brings out the wine and chats for a minute.
We are so lucky to have that place. Never closed during Covid. There’s even a small beer and wine shop next door. Like a home away from home.

I would have walked out. It is just a money grab.

If it's on the menu then there should be no problem on what is ordered. So the restaurant is telling you what to eat or not to eat even though it is on the menu? I would walk out.

Age discrimination....LOL

My take....I know some places discount kids meals to make it attractive for adults to come in with kids. I would not have made an issue over it for that reason. Nothing wrong with taking the left overs home.

Arguing with wait staff over stuff like this is low on my list of issues....especially if the food is good and I want to come back.

My neighbor refuses to east at one of the best/affordable places near us because of something that happened over 10 years ago. His problem not ours.

NEVER argue with anyone that handles the food you are about to eat.
Wait until you are done eating. Just common sense....

I agree with that. I do not bother to argue, I just do not go back. I might write a short, polite note on the bill... like "food was cold" or "waited for an hour to be waited on" or something like that so they know I was not happy.
