The Deere is a nice machine. I would get what felt best for my needs. Does the Kubota have AWS?

I dont think the Kubota is 4WS. I havent made it to the Kubota dealer yet.

Got to the Kubota dealer today. Took a T1880 for a spin. I wasnt able to mow because it was brand new (deck was still painted underneath).

First impressions, engine was noisy and theyre was some hydro / belt noise.(more than usual)

Speed wasnt too bad, but i didnt like the engine breaking effect. I thought my fillings were going to fly out when i let up on the pedal :D

Deck height adjust was fine and smooth.

Im curious how the Infinity deck mows? It only has 2 anti scalp wheels that i could see? Is a full floating deck?

Front axle was fabbed, and not cast iron like deere.

Prices: T1880 $3700 42"
T2080 $5000
T2380 $5900

Plus there are no association discounts of any kind. Nor are theyre any discounts for cash.

All and all, not impressed. For similar money(after discount) to the T1880 i can get a X324 with more power, bigger deck (48), Deck with 4 anti Scalp wheels, 4 wheel steer, electric PTO, solid cast axle...Plus theres a local dealer.

I think when (if) the time comes im going to have to go green. I think theres a reason you see alot of green mowers out there, its not all just reputation.IMHO the Deere is much more machine than the Kubota.

Daughter loves / wants horses, so that may be an option.

You might want to get a bigger tractor then. And a horse trailer. And some lottery tickets.;)

I know some people who have gone the horse route, usually at the urging of a daughter.

I guess i should update this thread.

Since i started this thread i purchased a new property with pretty steep hills.

Through a stroke of luck i came across a lightly used Deere X540. It was only on the lot for less than a day:D .Price was awesome (less than a x324) so i jumped:D

The x540 has diff lock which really helps. Matter of fact it became a major criteria in my purchase.

So far its preformed above all my expectations. Hydrostatic, plus hydraulic lift and steer are well worth it.

I started a purchase thread here if anyones interested:thumbsup: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/john-deere-buying-pricing/174812-joined-team-green.html
