How long ago was it when you looked at Mahindra? Maybe you could sell the 'bota (you know they supposedly keep their resale value), and go get the Mahindra (if they finally got it in with the cab), then take the extra money and buy your tie-down straps.:D

You know, you honestly have a good idea, but the fools at the Mid-West Region for Mahindra pulled my friend's Mahindra franchise because of the other guy who, in my opinion, gives Mahindra the side line treatment but is only 48 miles away. You know, you go in to buy a wooden rocker, a case of Mason jars and, oh yeah, look at the two Mahindra tractors he has. My friend has a real farm and has a real farm implement business. It would have made more sense to let him keep the Mahindra dealership and pull the other guy's. But, there again, that wasn't my decision.

So, as much as I hate it, those much desired hurricane straps will have to wait.

Nope... I'm afraid you would lose that bet. Here are actual pix of the monster courtesy of member SPYDERLK:

That front section is 17 GPM worth of main pump (verified by both dealer and owner tests with results posted here on TBN) while that back section is 5.2 GPM worth of steering pump! Ain't she beautiful! :D

If that 7010 cab would have come in and I'd had a chance to actually drive that particular tractor, things could of even been different then.

The joys of tractor shopping! If any Kubota dealer within 100 miles had stocked an M5040 or 6040 ROPS model when I was shopping, I most likely would have bought one instead of the JD I ended up buying for a couple hundred less. But I had 20-30 hours of useful work on my JD by the time a Kubota dealer called to tell me that an M5040 had arrived. Not knocking Kubota, just saying that often times models are very comparable and it may come down to what's in stock, the price, or how much you like the dealer.

I agree to some extent with the earlier comment not to buy a tractor you don't like just because the dealer is better. Of course not. But many of these tractors are so close in features and quality that when you can flip a coin on the brands, the dealer makes a big difference, IMHO.

That was me that made that comment, and I agree with your comment regarding tractors that are comparable. If all the tractors that a person is looking at are about the same, then by all means pick the best dealer. There are many deciding factors at purchase time, for me it was to find the tractor
that best suited me and then a dealer to buy it from. For me, a good local dealer was not even a concern, but I don't make my living with it either.

If I was wanting a Kubota to do heavier farming with I would look at the M955 Cab. That tractor goes over 8600#. I guess that is a closer comparison to the Mahindra but I'm sure that the cost is greater also.

I may have missed it, but why aren't you looking at JD, NH, and Massey?
No, it delivers 17GPM at 2500 engine speed verified on mine by stopwatch and loader speed. This is just adequate to run skid steer power accessories. I you want the ability to apply extreme force, both hydraulically and physically the Mahindra will out do the others. The loader is very strongly constructed. I am clearing land with mine - pushing down 18" trees and transporting-usually carrying them to the firewood pile, chipping all brush, back grading, etc. I wish it had a creeper gear and a harder underbelly.

Mine goes slow enough for what I do, but I agree that it would be nice to have a belly pan on it. I think that there are a couple of 7520 owners that have talked about making their own. I faintly remember someone saying that they had fabricated a 4 piece one out of 3/8. Maybe I should start another project and make one myself. No, I best finish what has already been started.;)

Dargo, any chance that one of those four Mahindras that you drove was a 7520? Their cab model is made by TYM. Myself, I have never had the chance to operate any other Mahindra other than my own.:(

Brian... I did offer to trade ya, didn't I??? :D

You are correct. That 7010 CAB he checked out is made for Mahindra by TYM of South Korea. It's my second favorite Mahindra of the bunch! :)

Oh, now you're just picking on me. Heck, you're playing tag team with MtnView!! First he makes me admit that I honestly came darn close to buying a Mahindra and then you pile on telling EVERYONE that I almost bought a 3rd world tractor! Oh, the humanity!! I'm just going to run and hide now. I'm no match for you guys... :)

You guys just wait until I get those tie down straps!! You'll regret picking on me then! I only have 6 more months to pay on my claw hammer. Don't you guys forget that now!

For gosh-darn sakes Brian... TRY your best to stay out of trouble for at least a few hours! You 7520 folks are nuthin' but a bunch of tractor trouble makers! Me? I'm going to bed! :)

I'm trying to figure out what good 17gpm is when the loader is "slow" as xxxsandman pointed out. A very slow loader would drive me nuts.

I also have knocked down plenty of trees, leveled land, took out a pond dam, and stacked junk cars on trailers. I also know my tractor is smaller than a 7520

Oh no no no... You've got that all wrong! "Third world tractor" was the nickname of another poster for the Mahindra brand! Not moi! Why if I won the PowerBall lottery tomorrow, I have BOTH a 7520 and a 7010 CAB sitting in my driveway within 72 hours! :D

You are talking to the wrong dude if you think I am a "Mahindra Diss'r"!!! Sheer brute strength and power does it for me every time!

Gee, it would for me too! Let's recheck XXXSandman's exact words:

xxxsandman said:
The 17gpm pump output is out of the published specs from Mahindra. The steering pump is 5.2gpm. I read a debate about this over in the Mahindra forum. It seems some didn't believe it was that much, mainly due to the slower loader speed. I think they finally decided it was indeed close to that, but I'm not sure.
Turns out that XXXSandman should have kept reading a little longer. He would have found out that some 7520 machines had air leaks on the hydraulic pump suction side. Once fixed, the 7520s and ML275 loaders worked exactly as spec'd out... 17 GPM and about a 5 to 6 second lift time to full height at design RPM. Maybe a "very slow loader" by your standards but plenty fast for me, especially given its considerable lifting capacity.

Nah, I believe quite the opposite. I was being factious.

Factious about the hammer part. I only have 5 payments left on it. ;)

* Mahindra 7520 4wd - BIG and HEAVY. Love the turbo, lots of power! FEL seems really slow, but very strong. Controls and layout wasn't layed out as good or nice as the others. Best quote on a new one so far $27,895 which includes rebates and no financing.

Thanks
James

FEL seems really slow Maybe tractor's rpms were slow.

I still would like to know why James is not considering JD, Massey, and NH.

Well 17gpm or not the NEW 7520 tractor I demoed had a slow loader, at least compared to the kubota. I timed it and it was close to 7 seconds at full throttle to lift all the way. That doesn't sound bad on paper, but for some reason it seemed slow. The loader speed was painfully slow at idle or low engine speed. Of course all loaders are slower at lower engine speeds, but the 7520 seemed much slower. Honestly I would expect more from a tractor with a 17gpm pump, the 11gpm pump tractors was as fast or faster.

Is the cylinders that much bigger then everyone elses on the 7520's loader?
Or is there some kind of design flaw in the hose sizing, valve selection or routing that is causing a flow restriction, not allowing that nice 17gpm pump to show it stuff?

Keep in mind before you start chopping at my comments, I don't have a dog in this fight, just looking for one. And Dougster i read that entire thread about 7520 loader speeds, pump output, etc, it was painfully long and drawn out.
