Communication Tower Site on my Property?

a story. I may have told here [or not]

a fellow I used to have dealings with had a cell tower back when they were very new.

it came up to renew the lease and he being the savvy business man with many farms and businesses told them the lease was going up.

without blinking an eye they handed him the papers and said ' you got a tower' and walked out.

soon about a quarter mile away they put up a new tower. and his sat vacant for a couple years.

get a lawyer involved before you even consider talking to them. no matter the cost it will be money well spent.

I would want to know if I could use the tower to support the ends HF wires or if close enough to support vhf/uhf antennas of my own, would they maintain them. :) So bottom line, I would be a pretty happy guy if someone wanted to pay me and put up a tower. But then, I like towers.

I know a large farm that get's $1200/month. I'm sure your situation would depend on how many hill tops are available and those land owners acceptance of having a cell tower on their land.
With 100,000 (wild guess) towers out there across the country, I'd be surprised that there's not an advisory group or forum "out there" on the web.

If you don't take it, your neighbor will.

I'd recommend reading up on the health issues of smart meters and cell towers.

5G is now being rushed in and it will create even greater health issues.

Had the pleasure of hanging out in the evenings with the radar guy at our airfield in Germany.

Pilots had to stay qualified on Glide slope precision approaches.

So between flights he would lower the dish...and on occasion locate a hare, crank up the power and well bugs would be a fried bunny. Did not take much power either.

Cell towers are a health hazard to the property owner. A meter to monitor the electrical field can be easily be ordered.
Some of the videos even have links for them.

Summary, lots of home work prior to making a decision. Once it's in, it's there for life.

Regards...

How close to a tower would you need to be safe? I'm not a radio guy but thinking the signal is somewhat "aimed" above everything within XX feet of the tower base, or is this completely wrong thinking?

Industrial Toys may have been referring to this video I came across a few weeks ago. I know you can't believe everything you read on the net but if true, it's scary. Look here :

Yes, that was it.

I am sure, the greatest RF risk to most of us, is the cell phone we carry.

Just listening to a show concerning the matters of the Cuban Embassy (Health Issues) and effects of Terraherz radiation.

Funny, you mentioned the foot print but not the height. I assume self support. What face size, how much loading? Microwave dishes? Can they lease it out to others services? Will they remove concrete if vacating the site?

Yes, these are things NOT specified in the exploratory letter. They would ALL have to be answered for sure.

And yes, it's a peaceful picturesque place. There's a microwave tower about a half mile away on AT&T property, about 3 acres... and I appreciate that it affords me good cell and data service with AT&T only... but having a nasty tower right by the house would be a big deal breaker.

Good things for me to think about, gentlemen. Thank you.

As I kind of found out. If you ask too many questions, you may not be the party they are looking for. Like someone said. You may just end up looking at some ugly tower on your neighbors land. Same eyesore, but he gets the income.

A small Internet provider put up a 100 foot very hard to see, self support tower a thousand or so yards up the road from me. The neighbors complained bitterly about possible health hazards although it was a couple hundred yards away from them. Eventually, the provider went bankrupt and the tower was removed.
