command 22 oil leak

Hello; Used my gt2550 for about an hour today. When i opened hood to blow
off motor noticed oil on inside of hood on left side. Started engine after cleaning and noticed smoking off exhaust. Any thoughts. Just started as engine is blown off after every use. Thanks!

cuppla thoughts: tractor recently operated with engine at angle (hill, ditch)? engine oil overfull?

oil level is barely over full mark. no hills today. although I do have some slope
in main yard.

Check your oil filter to make sure it is tight. Mine came loose last summer because I did not get it tight enough after changing the oil.

Do you have one of those pull out oil drains like pictured in the top left of this photo?

Ours leaked where this plastic oil drain was screwed into the engine block. As a result of the design it couldn't be tightened and always weeped oil. I removed it and replaced with a simple plug. A lot of guys made some neat oil drain mods if you want to go that way.

It's possible this time of year floating dandelion seed will plug up the air filter. a plugged air filter will draw oil up threw the filter to create a real mess.
