Maybe it's been brought up before but why not combine the two sites into one huge, mega, one-stop forum for all our rural life needs? I see someone in an earlier post is suggesting moving the cooking forum over here...I say move the whole thing over here!

Countrybynet was created specifically as a place where people could go to discuss rural and country living. While it is true there is some overlap in interest, it is almost certain there is a great number of folks who are interested in rural living who don't care much at all about compact tractors. And I know we have a number of tractor folk who aren't all that interested in country living.

Adding in the whole collection of CBN to TBN would create a whole mess of issues in a lot of ways. The added forums would add confusion to a lot of new members. As well as old members. I'd think that a search for "oil" on TBN and CBN would produce different results. Such as... olive oil or corn oil, vs the more machine-lubricant oils we're used to reading about on TBN.

Perhaps we'll do some more advertising of CBN on TBN and drive some folks over there if they haven't heard of it. But I don't think we'll be moving CBN into TBN.

Sorry.

I think the confusion would be brief and most users would figure it out soon enough.

As for your example about searching for "oil"...once again people will figure it out. If you get more results than you like then you refine your search. Many of the users on these sites are computer literate and many aren't. And those that aren't are quickly learning more and more each visit.

It's not my site so it's not up to me, but I think both sites would improve with consolidation. CBN seems to be a lot slower as far as traffic goes and I don't go there as often because it's not here at TBN and responses are easier to come by at TBN. The "Rural Living" and "Related Topics" forums get a lot of traffic that could be better distributed throughout the CBN forums if they were over here.

Anyway, you gave me a valid response so I thought I would send a rebuttal your way. Hopefully some other TBNers will chime in here...unless I'm alone on this idea.

Thanks for running two very good sites (still wish it was one very good site!)

Either site is just one click away. I don't see any reason to spend the time to combine them. Another thing and I don't know if it would be a problem but paid advertisements might be better the way it is?
