Tractor
Grizzly 660 Kioti DK45SE Cab
I started on this site a one colour man. Does it matter which? No!! The tractor I was looking at, appealled to me for exactly that, its looks. I know there's more to it than that, dealer for one. all dealers I met seem all ok. Find the right size tractor for the work you inted to do with it, I did. I guess the only thing left is to find the one I feel most comfortable with and I hope I do, because I don't want to purchase and invest based on colour, colour, colour.

Anyone who would buy based on color alone eliminate many alternatives. I have a John Deere but frankly would have a New Holland right now if I could have gotten a better deal. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

you're finding out some of the same things I went through .
In the long run , color didn't matter much to me . Mike PA said it best " you buy once and own forever " So it's down to who you think can service your machine in the long run .
But if all the dealers you've spoken with give you confidence in their ability to support you, you have to start looking at some finer points . How do the machines feel to you wnen you sit on them ? Do your hands and feet find all the controls instinctively ? Is the seat comfortable ? lot's of leg/arm room ?
Is the 3ph easy to hook up /disconnect ? How easy is it to inspect fluid levels ,and service ?
I know that seems like a lot , but in the long run it's worth taking the time to look at . I know from my own experience it calls for a lot of questions ,and hard choices . But in the end it is all worth it . Sorry for being long winded . And I've probably managed to provide more questions than answers .

This site made me look beyond color. I'm happy I found it. More confuse but happy. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I sat on a green one, not enough room on the model I looked at and didn't like the dealears rep. I sat on the only orange brand that was available in the size I needed, didn't like it. Sat on the blue one and signed that day. Besides, I knew the dealer's rep for service.

CAG; don't get hung up on color! if they were all IDENTICAL then u cold pick by color, but they are not the same, one may have better contros, one have have a better hydraulic system, one may just FIT U RIGHT. OF COURSE THESE FACTORS ARE ALL DETERMINED BY YOU! the buyer.

I would have liked to have green but cause I did not walk in with $100 bills hanging out of my pockets and my clothes were a little soiled they wanted me out right away and they did not offer me "0" interest which was avilable at the time. So I bought orange then I went to Green''s open house for dinner cause I still have a green lawn tractor, diesel. They asked and I said, orange was in my barn. A lot of sales are loss because of bad salesmanship. I have had green for the last 20 years.

I had the same problem with the Orange dealer, but I deliberately didn't drive the good car or wear the Sunday best. I have found that it isn't to your advantage to always look successful when making an expensive purchase because some dealers think that because you can afford it, they don't have to give you the best price. The dealer that I did buy from gave me the best price the first time. In that instance, I did drive the Benz, but I parked it out of site. All he cared about was making a sale and making a happy customer. He did both that day and I won't even buy a quart of oil from the other dealer. You can tell the quality of a company by how they treat their prospective customers. It doesn't matter what you are buying, but first impressions do make the difference. When I purchased the Benz, the salesman gave me the same attitude. I asked for the owner and purchased it from him. He knew me from the Rotary Club and knew that jeans were a way of life for me, not a suit. He didn't care about the color of my clothes, but the color of my money! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Now that I am retired, I watch what I spend more closely, so I shop for more products to get the better price. I also don't deny a merchant a profit, like some people that will bargain till the merchant is barely making a profit, but just turning over merchandise. Without a profit, he won't be there for long to service what he sells...

Sometimes when you show up looking a little less financially prepared, you can get the salesman into the mode of "helping" to make it affordable for you to make the sale possible. They are not so much worried about how much you are going to spend vs. if you are going to spend or not.

I did have a bad experience the other day at a JD dealer that I have posted under another thread in the JD Buying forum.

True True! Having the old Farmall, they came in Red . But, the factory would paint them to order. Mine shows signs of being yellow at some time. It was probably a city or county tractor at some time in it's life.

To me color didn't have much to do with my purchase.
I spent a lot of time on the web looking at different makes and what they had to offer. I knew what would be ideal for me than I set out to find it. I believe I looked at every color tractor there is, even the purple one Long makes. My $$$ were limited and I wound up with a used 4110 Mahindra (4x4, FEL) with about 400 hours. It's red and I guess you could say I'm lucky it matches my old red and silver Chevy so well. I couldn't be happier with it, I wouldn't care if it was pink, I know what I got and it's what I wanted.

Dealer attitude is something else. Some of them still think it's 1957 and they can do whatever they want.

A female friend of ours went to a Mercedes dealership to buy a car. She was a clerk for the Government, and looked the part. No one even came over to talk to her. She left and went to a Volvo dealer and bought a new one for CASH. She had just hit 1.7 million in the lottery.

When I was looking for my tractor, I went to the dealerships. looked a the tractors, got as many brochures as possible, lived on this forum, then went back to the dealers. Some of them treated me like I was a 14 year old kid looking at the new Corvettes. At others, I knew more than the salesmen. I didn't care about color, but wanted Blue, Orange or Green, simply those are the only neaby dealers. The dealers could make a lot more sales if they treated people like people.

I finally ended up with a really clean used green one from a private party.

I actually think you look more like a tractor buyer if you walk in wearing old jeans and work boots. The dealer (Orange & Blue) I deal with treats just about everybody the same and definately knows that many of his farmer customers in torn jeans have multi million $ bank rolls. His price is definately not the lowest but his service is the superb. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Funny how those Mercedes dealers set themselves up. My wife and I were buying a car because we needed something with a back seat because we were going to have a child in a few months and our little old pickup has no back seat. We were trying out sedans that day and that day the cars were the Nissan Maxima and the Mercedes S430. The Mercedes really wasn't all that great and frankly my wife and I both liked the Maxima better. When we got out from the test drive the Mercedes dealer asked how we liked it. My wife said "the cupholders in the Maxima were a lot better". The dealer appeared to have a seizure at this point. We were hustled out the door, too. I guess we weren't regarded as serious buyers.

Well the funny thing is that the car we really liked the best was a BMW 740i. And that is one hell of a car. But the really funny thing is that we bought the 740i from the same dealer cluster as where the Mercedes guy decided we weren't serious. In fact, the two dealerships are in the same building. And the BMW dealer was about eight feet away from the Mercedes dealer.

So when we picked up the 740i I suppose the Mercedes dealer had another seizure.
