We eat quite a bit of beans, but I don't like thick beans, like Limas and Pintos. Never did like backed beans either. NASTY. No way would I every think to put beans between bread. :laughing::laughing::laughing:

1. Tomato, bread, mayo, cheese melted over it and toasted.

2 Tomato, bread, mayo, bacon

3 BLT

4 Tomato, bread, mayo, sliced cucumber sandwich

But due to you fasting I WILL NOT start a thread on tomato sandwiches!!:thumbsup:

The moderators have my permission to delete all references to cucumber sandwiches from now on. We grow cucumbers, but the only way I'll eat them and like it is if they are pickles. I tolerate a few slices in a salad, but I think I'd just starve if all I had to eat was cucumber sandwiches. I wouldn't even grow cucumbers until we had so many family and friends ask for them. Now, we grow them just to give them away. I just never developed a taste for raw cucumbers.:p

On the topic of in-season meals...the collard greens will be ready any time, those get simmered with carrots, onions, smoked hocks, chicken broth and cider vinegar, just a dash of salt, pepper, and tabasco....mmmmm. Fried green tomatoes with remoulade sauce will be in order soon too...ok, I'm hungry now, gonna go cook dinner...lol

Growing up in the Mississippi delta we had fried baloney sandwiches on white bread with mayo....Yum....Sorry Moss

Best sandwich to me is Home grown tomatoes sliced on fresh white bread with gobs of real mayonnaise on both slices then salt and pepper...get over the sink and eat it....:thumbsup:

These are all served cold so nice with lunch or dinner on a heatwave day like we had up here last week.

Sliced cucumbers with sour cream and a dash or two of of Montreal Steak Seasoning is good

OR

Cucumber Salad

Ingredients:
2 cucumbers, very thinly sliced
1 red onion, very thinly sliced
2 tablespoons vinegar or 2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons low-fat sour cream or 2 tablespoons yogurt
salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon chopped fresh dill

OR

Tomato, Onion, and Cucumber Salad
Ingredients:
5 medium plum tomatoes, halved lengthwise, seeded, and thinly sliced
1/4 red onion, peeled, halved lengthwise, and thinly sliced
1 Kirby cucumber, halved lengthwise and thinly sliced
A generous drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil, about 2 tablespoons
2 splashes red wine vinegar
Coarse salt and black pepper

Good fare for trying to lose weight. However, since I'm NOT a Vegan or PETAphile, I need some meat with those meals. While a good steak, or even ballpark franks would be ideal, I have to settle for the hebrew national low fat franks or the chicken-turkey ones on thin buns.
