Close to Pulling Trigger on JD 4300

Dealing with Richland Equipment Company in Georigia.

Here is the price:

JD 4300, Hydro, 4WD,control valve, ROPS
R1 ag ties
430 FEL (61" bucket)
MX5 5-ft rotary mower
660 tiller(60")

$21,900 (NO delivery)

I live in New York, they are in Georgia. Has anyone had any experience with these guys? Is the price a great price or pretty much standard?

Have they broken down the price per item. Especially the details on the 4300. How is it equipped? DSCV, Mid-PTO, HST, etc.?

The details would really help.

I'm near Ithaca NY. I bought my 4300 from Rolling Acres Tractor in Tunkhanick (Spelling??) PA. I'd check with them before I bought from Georgia.

They will not break it down but it has no mid-PTO and it does have the hydrostatic transmission and the implements I mentioned/ What do you think?

It does have the dual selective control valve.

Just the fact that they will not break the price down for you is a flag for the buyer to be cautious with this dealer. Ask for their price quote in a written detailed format as to year, model, options and same with attachments. My guess is that you can price compete locally. Unless you have to buy now, I'd sure wait until you can inspect a new 4310. Good luck.

How many thousands of dollars are you actually saving...?

What kind of quotes have you gotten locally? How on earth did you come up with a Georgia dealer... all the way from NY?

The 4310's should be hitting the dealers' lots within the next 60-90 days... /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

I really find it hard to believe you have to travel 1/3 across the U.S. to find a "tractor deal"... did you buy your car/truck this way...?

From the tone of your post... you seem to "question" your own price quote from Georgia... or am I missing something here...? /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

True. But buying in-state raises large sales tax issues 8.5% in suffolk county. I am concerned. I just want to know what a good price for the package should be. Is a 15% discount off retail for a package a reasonable assumption?

Yes, I think 15-20% off-is fair... both to the buyer and the seller... if you're buying from a distant dealer... then it better be much higher to make it worth your while... {use the same logic as if you're buying a car/truck}

To save "only a couple hundred dollars" would be foolish after all the running around, potential warranty problems, transporting a vast distance...

To save "a few thousand dollars" is worth considering with the other above taken in consideration...

If you grow produce, Christmas trees, etc... you may qualify as a "farmer" and be tax-exempt in NY...

Personally, if there is nothing pressing for you... I'd wait another few weeks for the new models to arrive and then weigh your options...

In the meantime, visit and get to know your local dealers... stop in periodically, let them see your face, ask some questions, talk turkey, go home and digest what you've learned... then go back and ask more questions... you'll find time will pass quickly and low and behold... you'll probably find a local dealer who you like... and in turn he likes you to do business with... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thanks for your kind advice. Nobody has been able to give me a straight story on the 4310s in terms of the benefits. I want to have one at my property by March (pretty obvious I guess)

I will look in to the exemption. Any ideas where I can get info on this?

Won't my local Deere outfit have to service my JD if it is under warranty even if i purchased it elsewhere?
