Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Clearing Snow

I know I'll use the blower. We've had a wierd winter and haven't had more than three inches on the ground. I know it will come soon, once the lake cools down a little more. But I'm sure glad I bought the rear blade. I would have spent a lot more time clearing with just the snow blower.

My first snowblower was a 8' Mckee on a 75 hp White farm tractor , Boy could she blow snow! I could blow snow onto my neighbors fron yard 100 ' away. Up till that time I only had a JD3010 with a loader, I was always moving snow over and over.Well yes I did get a little covered with snow but I spent 1/2 the time doing it and nowheres near the snowbanks along driveway. Ive since sold the farm and I have a Kubota 4310 fel 7' C/T rear blade and a 6' lucknow blowerI wont get rid of the blower for anything unless it was for a new blower !!!BTW be careful with the blades reversed and using it backing upIve seen tree roots and frozen groung really bend them before the person could stop, of course he needed a neck brace for 2 weeks.

How true, I just spent some big $$$ for a Sims Cab and a front blower and all we have had is RAIN, and 40-60 degree weather. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I figure we will have NO snow for the rest of the winter since we are almost 2 weeks into January. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I hear ya. I always used a 84" blade on my JD 755 to move snow (blade facing forward). It worked well and I had the FEL to push back the piles when needed.

When I traded the 755 in for a 4310 last summer I also purchased the front mount 59" blower. I've used it 3 times for nothing more than 3 inches each time and if I had waited a couple of days the snow would have melted anyway.

All I've got to say is if it took the price of a snowblower to stop the snow from falling, I'm OK with that. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know one thing for sure. You could clear out all the snow on my farm with your blower in about 1/4 of the time it takes to do it with my rear blade and fel. I can do it in 1/2 the time using my truck and plow. Unfortunately for me, my son has my truck at school. So I am stuck with his BMW to drive and the tractor to plow with. Jeff, I'm with you. By this time last year we had two feet of snow on the ground. I'm perfectly fine letting my snowblower sit in the garage as long as it keeps the snow away.

I keep my 3PH blower on for weight. It's only a last resort if the snow is too deep. Two storms so far, 12"+ each time and I've gotten away with the front blade and the wing so far. First storm was wet heavy stuff, second, nice fluffy stuff.
