Clearing Slow and Blocked Sinks.

Geezers, our girls had long, fine blonde hair down past their knees when they were young. Clogged sink drain was monthly ritual.

The hair snakes work great for anything within the length of the thing, but anything past that, you'd either have to pull the trap and run a snake or use the shop vac. Shop vac is much easier. But if it's past the vent, won't do a bit of good and snake is needed.

A lot of people don't like chemicals, but Liquid Plumr Urgent Clear Gel is always stocked in my basement. Has never failed to open a clogged drain at home.

My current job is a handyman in residential buildings. We don't use chemicals. I carry a hair snake and a small sink plunger (and lots of disposable gloves). 99 times out of a hundred I can clear a sink with that. If not, we call a plumber. And we never use chemicals at my employer's facilities.

The worst thing I run into is low-flow aerators. Yes, they save water. But they only run .5 gallons per minute. It won't wash toothpaste past the trap, let alone anything else like hair or shaving stubble.

Amen brother… preaching to the choir on low flow.

One building was in a low flow program where faucets, toilets and shower heads replaced.

A 4-plex almost with problem became one.

The elderly tenant became such a water saver her bathroom basin was always blocked by toothpaste… she flushed once a day found her part to save and aerators all plugged from water district work in the area…

Dodged a lawsuit when another tenant had her sister visit and taking a shower the shower head flew and hit her in the eye and a trip to the emergency room…

I had pictures of the low flow heads to document and the head that flew was a heavy brass full flow???

Tenants x boyfriend changed out the water saver head for a real one…
