I am clearing some fields of the cedar trees to get ready for plowing this spring. I had the pallet forks on so decided instead of messing with the grapple and bucket I would use the forks. The ground is very wet but made me worry less about all the multiflura rose I was driving on.

So you just cut them down? What about the stumps? When you plow or when you mow the field? Those stumps are like little land mines just wanting to reach up and rip off your hydro filters.

I cut them level to the ground. The big problem will be when the plow hits the stumps but it's a large auto reset plow that will trip and hopefully over time they will rot or be pulled out.

Those Cedars look to be less than 6 inches in diameter at the base. Couldn't you have pushed them over and popped the stump out before cutting them up?

Popping them out just didn't work on the cedars. Not sure if it's my ground or the root systems, did work on some in another field but got frustrated and started cutting them.
Your last picture Island is a beaut., with that sparking blue water in the background.

I like the tractor sunset photos the best. It means I'm not far from a cold beer.;)

That's one Kioti should use in an advertisement but maybe everyone would be looking at that unbelievable sunset instead of the tractor!!

There is a reason folks use cedar for fence posts and pickets. They don't rot for 15-20 years...or more!! :(

More work but nice to not have to run over stumps. Even little ones.
