200 hours ago, I replaced the hydraulic fluid, filter, o-rings and cleaned the pickup screen, because I purchased the tractor used and felt this would be a good idea.

I did not know what to expect, but with only 400 hours on the tractor, there was a fair amount of metal flakes on the pickup screen. I am interested in seeing how clean the pickup screen is, both the owners manual and technical manual say the 10 gallons of hydraulic fluid needs to be drained. By chance does anyone have experience with how to do this without draining the fluid? As my interest is not that high that I want to drain the hydraulic fluid.

I would also be interested in knowing what others have seen on their pickup screen.

Pretty well known that the screen debris is mostly from manufacturing, and after the first 50 hours has most of such debris picked up.

If you have a steep hill to park the tractor with the front end down, you could possibly remove the screen without losing much fluid. About a 20 degree slope should do it. he early 5X00 series had a different screen desin in the same location and would lose hydraulics with front nosed downhill too steep, so the screen was getting uncovered.
