clean leather gloves soaked with hydraulic fluid?

Any suggestions on how to remove hydraulic fluid from leather? I've soaked and washed them several times and they're still oily.

Dont know much about leather but the mrs. dumps my clothes in kerosene then washes them. She says kerosene desolves the oils and laundry soap desolves the kerosene.

Let me clearify that a bit. She dosent throw the whole kit and kaboodle in there just treats the bad spots and THEN puts them in the washing machine.

Anything you do to get the hydraulic oil out is going to remove the leather's natural oils. That'll make 'em harder than Chinese arithmetic. I buy the three packs of Wolverine gloves they sell at Sam's and then I have different pairs for different uses. I think the three pack is around $10, it's been a while since I bought any. I keep a new pair in the truck door and rotate them to other uses when they get nasty.

Might try throwing them in a bag of cheap kitty litter, shake it up so they are well covered and let sit for a few days.

just wear them and wear it out. Every pair of leather gloves I have is soaked inoil of some sorts, mostly from a chainsaw. Good treatmet for them too.

Same here. My gloves are ulgy and smell like !@#$%.

Diesel fuel, gear oil, motor oil, tranny fluid, hydraulic fluid..............everything gets on those gloves.

If I can stretch this thread a little.
What do you do if hyd. fluid has covered the inside and outside of leather shoes? I washed twice but still oily and Mrs. Zoom has pretty much required the socks don't come in the house now either.

I did check out the thread Bob Skurka started as well as the other one. I won't link here for Bob's sake.

Actually, the boots were getting pretty bad anyway so I've just stashed in the building for now. Just hated to discard due to their comfort. This Saturday prior to our get-together, I'm just going to stop at the outlet mall and get a couple new pair. If I can get comfortable ones, I'll discard the old, otherwise I'll try the Simple-Green on them.
