We have an 83' JD 410 TLB, Used for just a little bit and discovered the hydraulic fluid was real low, filled up. Tractor works just fine in forward/reverse in LOW range but will not move very good in HI range. 1st gear HI and it seems like its slipping, it will move but we stopped trying out of fear to cause any damage, would not even think about trying it in 2nd HI etc.
Just spent the day looking over all the different boards and issues and it appears our problem is somewhat common with this model backhoe. Decided before I do any more work on it, would order the Service, Parts, and Operators manuals set. Before I divulge deeply in to this..all the issues people have with the wet disc reverser etc. I gotta ask...is there any other model tractor where the transmission can be swapped out of in a "worst case scenario"??
For example, say you owned a Ford 5000 with hydrostatic trans and the hydrostatic has failed and you get tired of playing with it, decide it just might be easier to go to standard shift trans and find one to swap out with. That works with the Ford BUT with the JD 410 they only list one trans that came in the tractor, basically stayed the same from 71' to 83', will an older model JD backhoe trans fit on this as a swap out if a person cannot get the issues resolved? the parts support is somewhat lacking as JD no longer has the drum available for the reverser...did the older model backhoes have the same reverser or? Have to wait for the manuals to come in and Ill give my best but I'm kinda dreading it. Any advice? Ill post to the same subject as I find things out with the manuals, it may take a few days time between posting etc. Thanks for any input/advice.
