I'm considering buying a used ck3510 with loader but no backhoe and no rear remotes. Does anyone know what specifically will be needed to add a backhoe? One set of rear remotes or two? What type? Also, what if I wanted to add a hydraulic thumb to the backhoe?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! (Sorry if this is in the wrong area, brand new to the site)

Two, if you want a thumb. One if not. I'd avoid a 3PH type by all means. You need one with frame reinforcement of some type. I have a Bobcat CT235, essentially a CK35 painted white, and it's BH has a rather large accommodation that extends beneath the tractor to distribute the forces of the BH. Woods makes BHs that have bolt on reinforcements and pin mounting after one removes the 3PH arms. The beauty of theirs is that the BH takes a very small footprint when not mounted on the tractor and is easily stored. I had one on a Kubota BX years ago and it was very easy to mount/dismount. I'm not sure what offerings they have for Kioti. You'd have to check.

The factory attachments, such as the backhoe, are, or at least were, manufactured by Woods.

That's right. The Bobcat's were not, however. I don't recall but all their implements were 3rd party. The Loader and BH by separate entities than the rest. Daedong and Doosan have decided to restore their agreement and the Bobcat version of the Kioti will be coming back. No word on implements to my knowledge.

That's the information I needed. So a set of dual rear remotes will handle what I need. If I read elsewhere correctly kioti sells a kit for that and I think I saw Michigan Iron too.

And yes, I wouldn't go with a 3pt backhoe, only a subframe solution.

I guess now I just have to decide if this tractor is a good deal vs new. Thanks a bunch.

Some people will opt to pick up a used backhoe.
then some will not citing high maintenance cost, Outside of storage space if you don't use it the cost is nil

If you intend to do some hard work with the backhoe, it might be a lot cheaper when the smoke clears to have bought a machine designed and built from the ground up as a backhoe. just my :2cents:

Here's a picture -- factory frame mounted backhoe that the owner did not abuse.

I'm a home owner not crazy heavy work. Digging drainage, trees/firewood/stumps, rock walls, moving bushes, dirt, stone, mulch, etc. I feel the TLB is the best weapon for me and our property vs a traditional backhoe/excavator.
I figure if I can get a good loader/backhoe then I'm in good shape. How did you manage to break that hoe in half?

Not my hoe, but it broke because of poor engineering and cheap steel. Best to buy a tractor with factory installed backhoe. they can be found on the west coast in the 10,000 range depending on hours. Take a old welder/machinist with you and examine the under garage, he will find and point out to you areas that should be reinforced, he will also point out to you areas where piss poor welders were at work and you can bet regardless of the brand there will be plenty of those

Got it. Ya, I'm east coast but I wouldn't be buying a backhoe other than factory or Woods and not without the proper subframe for sure. Thanks a bunch for the insight!

Bradco makes a lot of backhoes for a lot of tractors as well, Mahindra, Case, and John Deere for sure, I'm sure there are others.

Bradco has some nice mounting solutions for most units. They offer a few styles of skidsteer mounts. For tractors they have 3 point (well supported and very rigid unlike most), 4 point wedge lock, and 4 point handle lock.

To correct something said above, to have a hydraulic thumb on a unit intended to have a thumb, you don't need a second set of remotes to run the thumb. Many backhoes use a diverter valve and foot control for the thumb. I would advise against adding a thumb to a unit not intended to have one. I recently added a thumb to my backhoe and learned of several folk who had installed universal thumbs on their small tractor backhoes and messed up the dipper arm on the backhoe. Apparently the universal thumbs apply pressure against the middle of the dipper where there is no support and can buckle the dipper arm.
