CK30 no dash lights or start...

I was using my CK30 yesterday and stopped it for a brief time (I thought). When I tried to restart it had no dash lights, no lights, no start, nothing. If I put on turn signals or emergency signals I get rapid clicking from the relay but nothing else. I've checked battery, cleaned terminals, all fuses are good including the 60 amp. I also, checked the clutch switch, tightened the ground and positive on the starter. I've tested the main switch with ohm meter and it is good. I get 12 volts through the switch but nothing to the dash. Don't know if the stop switch (at the brake) could do this? Anyone have any ideas?

There are 2 relays on the fire wall this is a shot in the dark but put a finger on them ( maybe feel them activate ) and listen for a click when you turn the key on. Best of luck.

Pop the hood and they’re on your left, or in line with the throttle lever, if you could look through them. Tap them lightly and try to start the tractor. It may be easier if someone taps and another person sits in the seat to try to start it. I replaced both recently with similar recurring issues and now have gone months without problems. Pic may help if that's the problem. The first thing I did was interchange them, the tractor started so I knew the problem was isolated.

Owned the tractor another six yrs. with no problem.

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried tapping on them and nothing. I also took them out and cleaned the contacts. I realize now I am getting a click occasionally from a relay on the other side of the firewall but that's it.

I also check the voltage on the B+ side of the starter relay and it was 12.8 volts so I tried turning the key switch to on and putting a screwdriver across the B+ to GRND on the starter relay but nothing. Then I checked the voltage of the B+ with the switch to on and it is only 2 volts. I'm going to get the battery tested again in case it isn't good under a load.

Inter change the 2 , cleaning the contacts won't help if it's bad.

Interesting that mine doesn't have the same layout. I have one relay where your 3 are and another one on the other side and another one down below. I'll try swapping to see what happens and let you know. I did have the battery checked again somewhere else and it is definitely good.

I'm in Grants Pass, Oregon. I tried swapping the relays and nothing. I checked the B+ voltage at the switch and it is there but still no dash lights, no turn signals, no start, just a click from the timer relay and that's it. I did notice there is no spark when I put the neg ground on the battery which seems strange but I do have continuity to ground and 12.5 volts at B+. Going to the dealer to see what they suggest.

Hmm, let us know what they say. Could be fuse, relay, battery cable connections ( quite common), ignition switch, safety switch…

Ignition switch , or does it have a fusible link or master fuse in the wiring harness ?

Thanks so much for your help... you led me in the right direction. Here is the whole fix for my issue which turned out to be one of the relays you said would be it. Just had to do a little more work to get there as you'll see. Read the last four. THANKS!!!

If I put on turn signals or emergency signals I get rapid clicking from the relay. When main switch is turned to ON, the timer relay clicks on the firewall.

What I’ve done…

• I've checked battery (two different times), cleaned and tightened terminal connections. I don’t seem to get a spark when I touch the ground to the terminal?
• All fuses are good including the 60 amp.
• Clutch switch checks good
• Cleaned and tightened the ground and positive on the starter.
• Cleaned connections on, and reseated all relays
• Tested the main key switch with ohm meter and it is good.
• I get 12 volts through to the switch, but nothing to the dash or anywhere else.
• I’ve got B+ at the starter and tried shorted it to ground, but got nothing.
• When the key is turned to start, the voltage at the starter drops to 2 volts.
• I swapped the timer relays on the firewall, but nothing happened except I no longer get a click from the one on the left side. Put them back and get the click again.
• Tapped on starter while main switch was on and the timer relay started clicking over and over. The dash lights came on and I put in clutch and tried to start and heard something like the starter engaging but not turning and then everything went out again.
• Tapped on starter and timer relay started chattering then the dash lights came on and turn signals and headlights worked. When I tried to start it quit everything.
• I jumped the relay to short pins 87 to 30 (back to front) and everything worked. Relay needs replacement.
