Kioti CK30HST, Kubota BX-1500,
Question for diesel experts out there. My '76 Mercedes has a monstrous type of fuel filter very thick and HD. Other diesel filters I've seen are big also.

Why does the Kioti have a gasoline-like thin filter? Could it use another filter in line with this one?

Unless your running some pretty bad fuel, I don't believe it is nessasary for more filter.

Cause---

You don't run as much fuel thru your tractor as your car.

You maintain your tractor better than your car.

It has a clear bowl thus you can see trouble.

It is all that it needs.

One more:

Diesel fuel quality has gone way up since 1976 through regulation and improved refinery practice.

Maybe? that's why it costs more than gas now. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yeah, I'm thinking they're putting gold flake in it or something, maybe having it blessed by the Pope?

Get ready for another jump in price - the sulfur levels requirements for diesel go down again in 2008, plus the lower emission levels required from class 8 trucks will require all sorts of special filters on the exhaust system.

Offroad vehicles (tractors) are being debated currently. Imagine changing your 'exhaust filter' every two years on your tractor at $100 a pop. It's coming if California Air Resouirces Board gets its way. Maybe even a catalytic converter on your push mower! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I think that the farm diesel that I got at the JD dealer had GREEN dye, after I pumped 53 gallon, and went to pay, I found out it is $2.08 per gallon.

From what I see and understand out west here is....Diesel goes up in the winter time due to demand for home heating oil. Price in winter out here is typically the same as premium gas. Typically, diesel goes down in the summer and cost a little less the regular gas. This year seems to be an odd case and diesel has not come down to even regular gas levels yet. I "hear" this is due to the grade of oil that the refineries have had to purchase this year....which apparently is better for gas so they are producing less diesel.
