After quickly browsing over the owners manual for the umpteenth time, I did not notice if it mentioned how many amps the alternator was. Can someone enlighten me?

This is something that I did not research to heavily while tractor shopping. What do the comparable tractors have; such as tc29/33, b2910 or l3130, and dear 4210/4310. Are they comparable or not?

Kubota L3130, JD 4210, NH TC29 -> 40 Amps

The B2910 has a pretty light alternator. I don't recall exactly, but I think mine might have be about 25 or 30amp?

The alternator size only becomes an issue if you add a bunch of lights and if you use them a lot. I only use one of my tractors at night, it has extra lights (5 of them) and a 40 amp alternator. However since I don't use it extensively, I would have put the same 5 lights on even if the alternator was smaller and could not keep up with the draw on the battery. Drawing the battery down too far/too often is a problem, it will shorten battery life. Drawing it down little bits for short durations is no big deal because the alternator, even a small one, will recharge the battery when the tractor is used during daylight hours and the lights are off.

Now I'm not trying to say its a good idea to draw the battery down, it is not, I'm just pointing out that it can be done WITHIN REASON without much worry.

A bigger alternator IS BETTER if you add lights/electric loads. Kioti sets itself apart by offering larger alternators on all its tractors and that is a good selling point and it is a nice added value if you use it. A bigger alternator doesn't do anything if you don't use it. Personally, I'd always prefer a bigger alternator over a smaller one, but I wouldn't rule out any tractor because of the alternator size UNLESS there was a compelling reason for me to make sure it was a large unit (like I knew I'd be working at night 50% of the time).

New Holland...Not sure The website specs don't say, Anyone care to chime in??
The Kubota(all the way up to the 4630 unless equipped with a cab) is a 40Amp (Website), 5030 is a 45Amp
Deere same as New Holland.

Kiohio, as a NH owner, let me first say that the NH website is probably the WORST of all tractor websites to be found! The only other one that is close to as bad as the NH site is their sister site the Case/Farmall site! Generally when I need to check a spec on a NH Boomer I find it on the Case/Farmall site, or I find 1/2 of what I need there and the other half on the NH site!

All that said, my little TC24 has a 40amp alternator. Some of the older TC24s had 35amp alternators (mine is a 2003 model year).

I can't say what the larger TC's have because the website blows!
