Greetings, I have been monitoring this site for a year and am almost ready to buy my first Kiotiw/FEL. I can use a little advise on which Model CK30,35 or DK35? I will be using it mostly for residential work: Maintain 500' driveway, snow removal, landscaping (dirt work), firewood logging w/ winch, foodplots, etc. Is the ck30 the right machine, or will I grow out of it?

You (I ;) ) want the 35DKhse. Best loader and power of the group. I don't know how much more it costs but it looks to me like the sweet spot in the 30-45hp range for Kioti. Nice new and more powerful loader in the 351 too.

The CK35 doesn't really add much at all other than PTO and a bit of umph to the highly capable CK30. Same loader as the CK30 which is kinda lame on a 35hp tractor.

About 15 ac wooded and 2 ac field.
The CK30 should be more than enough machine for you. It is an ideal size for all the purposes you list and is nimble enough to move around in tight spots (like the woods).

What part of the country are you in Ranger? Can you be more specific on the size of the food plots and logging you intend to do.. The Ck30 is quite capable for a 30hp tractor. As Island said the k130 loader on the ck35 is a bit lame for a 35 hp machine, but if your major uses are plowing or brushhogging and you want a 6 ft brush hog then i could see the advantage of the ck35, while staying in a smaller framed tractor. The larger framed dk35 is a new machine that puts out 38 hp, has about 600lbs more lift in the 3 point hitch ,comes with other options not standard on the ck units.. Im curious to what pricing you have recieved on the 3 machines.... I have the Ck30hst but have the Woods 1012 loader which gives my tractor quite a bit more capability in the loader department then the k130 loader used on the ck30 and ck35.

I am located in upstate NY, there is a dealer in Schroon LK. The food plots will be about an acre and require some tilling or discing etc. The logging will be with Farmi or similar winch. Trees are white/ red pine and mixed hardwood, I will be supplying and handling wood for an outdoor furnace.

Hello Ranger, that would be Rodicks Farm Machinery, Bud is a very good dealer and a straight shooter as well.. From your tasks described the ck30 gear with ag 1 tires would suit you fine. Bud puts the Woods loaders on most of his Kioits unless you specifically ask for the Kioti loader. I would still consider the Dk35 if they put the new Woods 1008 loader on it, but youd have to ask Bud if Kioti allows it.. That combo would be a bear.. Williekioti is up by schroon lake and has the ck30 gear with loaded rears and the Woods 1012 loader and does similar tasks as what your describing.Look up his profile and you can see a 12' hardwood about 32 inches in diameter in his profile pic hes carrying with his ck30... Maybe he will see your post and chime in.. Good luck.. Matt

I happend to stop by Rodiks last weekend and saw alot of the new Kiotis, all i can say is they looked very impressive.. They had the dk35 hst with the 351 loader , very nice machine... Also so the new DK45hst with the 401 loader, and the dk45 shuttle with the new woods lc1008 loader, that curved loader looked like a monster on the dk45... There was also a dk45 with the 451 loader as well, very nice...

You would be happy with any of the tractors to do the things you want to do But the DK35 would be the best choice for moving firewood with a farmi type winch. You need a fairly heavy tractor to pull very much wood real well. Yes the ck series will pull wood, but might not be as productive.

If you have any questions give me a call, I am both a kioti and farmi winch dealer. I have quite a bit of experience using both.

Okay, here is my two cents based on 30 years of messing about with tractors. I'm a bit biased - bought a dk55c two years back....

I have some tractors with hydostatic drive and some with shuttle shift - like the dk55 and some with older standards. If you do a boat load of loader work, the hydro is real nice. If you need the power at the pto or just overall, the go with a shuttle shift, they really are quite nice today.

Now for the size. I say buy the heaviest thing you can afford. Tractors today have plenty of power for what most folks do, but in some ways, way too much power for the frame. If you start lifting things with a loader, and you live around hilly terrain, you could flip the ole tractor quick - be careful and carry loads as low as you can. I've got the dk55 tires loaded and carry heavy implements on the back when messing with my grapple bucket.

Just remember, if you are the kind of guy that will tackle just about anything, get a big brute, and you'll do fine. If you are more careful and think before you tear into something - wish I did! - then the smaller hydros are pretty sweet!

Oh, did we mention money.... that of course is never a factor... right?

Hi,
It sounds like your right on the fence between both tractors. In the hundreds of tractors we have sold, the biggest regret is " I should have got the next bigger size". I swear as soon as you get the tractor home you find a hundred more jobs besides the ones you originally bought the tractor to tackle.
As with the other advisors, the biggest question will be lifting capacity.
The winches should not be a problem as the new Fransgards are designed to dig into the ground to help brace themselves against the pull and the CK30 will run the V3004 easily. The DK35 may be able to jump up to the V4000.
I think you can make do with the CK series very easily, but you won't run out of tractor on the DK35 when you let your imagination get going.
Roddick is a great dealer and you should always consider your closest options.

Yup, he's already seen mine, that's what got him here.... ;)

He already knows my vote, but to opine in publicly; out of the three CKs, I'd recommend the 30. I think it has plenty pto hps for the tasks listed. If he's got the cabbage and desires more ponies the DK35 is a nice option, more pto hps, larger frame, heavier and a bit more ground clearance. But, having said that, larger is not always better IMHO. The larger the tractor, the more space you need to manuver it. I was really shocked how much altering I had to do to my woods trails when I got the tractor, a bigger machine would have meant larger alterations. It is a delicate balance on a woodlot tractor, big enough to do the work, small enough to fit in the space provided without making it look like a clear cut. Good luck "Ranger". Let me hook up with ya when you go down to Bud's, I'll help you spend your money. :)

Hey Willie, i was up that way last week and i must say the new Dk35 looks much better in person then from the pics ive seen on here.. Actually all the new machines looked impressive.. I agree with you that the ck30 gear would do all his tasks needed .. I also really like the new suspension seats as well.. Id love the try out the Dk35 and the Ck35 just the same , but then im afraid i might want something i dont really need...hehehe Matt

I hear ya there Matt. I love to go there, but fearful of what it could do to my wallet as well....:) I am going to price out one of those Woods gb80x like yours. My nieghbor is moving away this year, which means my access to his TC35a w/Woods bh9000 is going too. Didn't think I needed a BH until I had free access to one, darn it! I would like to look at the new DKs too. One can always look...... and drool.
