I bought my CK2620 last winter and knew it was going to be shy on the HP I needed. Why didn't I just buy a CK4020?? The biggest reason is I didn't want a computer controlled tractor. I like the idea of having a tractor I can work on without taking it to the dealer every time it has a hiccup for them to connect it to a computer to tell me I have a bad sensor or two and 10 to 15 yrs from now they no longer service that model then your stuck with buying a new tractor. Second I knew this 100.5 ci engine had a lot more in it. Third it's the same frame as the 40hp engine and $6,000 less. This past weekend I turned up the global fuel screw beside the fuel cutoff solenoid and advanced the injection timing. Today I hooked up my 60" tiller and couldn't hardly tell it was even back there. Before it constantly stalled the tractor. Huge difference. I am betting it's sitting at 40 PTO shaft HP which is 44.35 engine HP. 4 to 5 parasitic drag loss between the engine and PTO shaft. I am looking around for a dyno to confirm my thoughts. I will report back.

Welcome,
I’m subscribed 😬
However, if you’ve turned up the fuel and increased the output by some 60%?!…..stuff is gonna break. (24.5 hp to 40ish)
Awaiting more info, especially your dyno results!

Thanks for the welcome.
If your referring to breaking the motor, the pre-emission CK4010 is a Daedong 1.8L 3-cyl diesel. A slightly larger version of our CK2620 1.65L 3-cyl. That's only 11ci larger, which had a lot of power left in it too. but if your referring to the frame, axels and transmission they are both the same.

The 2620 has a rated PTO of about 20hp, while the 4020's is about 35hp. Assuming they are the same strength wise, you are still over powering it. As far as I know when people turn up the power on the 25/26 series, they keep it at 10hp increase or less.

Based on what I've seen, 35hp engine and like 28 pto is kinda the sweet spot; but I am following. Noone online that I've seen, has more than "feels like" power info on the turn up. I'm really considering the process, but will admit Id prefer to not void warranty.

Everything I've watched, is turn the screw up, then back it down till black smoke stops at full throttle, no load. Not very scientific. Is smoke an accurate measurement?

Also, sorry for the multiple short posts but, noone on YouTube mentioned anything about advancing time,

I was in the same dilemma. I did end up buying a CK4010. For me, it was less frightening having the CK4010 and hoping it does not have problems vs buying a 2610 and turning it up and praying it doesn't break. Seemed the less worrisome option. So far, I have had no problems with the CK4010 at 360hrs.

Forgive my ignorance, but with a carburetor gas engine, you set an idle screw and a fuel screw. On a this engine, it's just one screw; so for an ignorant guy like me, does that affect starting or idle speed or anything line that?

That screw only effects the maximum amount of fuel that is allowed to be injected. These diesels are set up quite lean and more fuel can generate more power at the same rpm. The engines governor and the min - max stops are what control the rpm.
