CK20 Front Axle Fluid Level

I have the shop manual for my CK20 hydrostatic. The manual isn't the clearest or the most detailed I have ever read to say the least. It says to fill the front axle gear oil up to the check plug port. However, the front axle also has a sight glass in the check plug with a dot in the middle. My experience with any sight glass in the past is that they should be filled to the middle mark. The manual says nothing about the sight glass.

Should the front axle be filled with gear oil until it starts to run out of the check plug, or should it be filled to the middle of the sight glass in the check plug?

I'd fill it and use the sight glass just for reference that there's oil in it.

I have always filled till oil just starts to come out!
