Why go to all the trouble. Just get a rechargable one less expensive in the long run and does the same job

It's not a lot of trouble to hook the gun to the compressor.

I use the compressor to run my impact wrench, the grease gun, and a blower to clean off the hydro disconnects as well as cleaning the radiator and prescreen etc.

If I were worried about "all the trouble" I sure wouldn't have bought a tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

( I'm finding this discussion as useful as usual for this group - combining guidance and moral support.

I drive the BH pretty hard (though never above 2000 RPM - that's already a lot of power!), and generally press down the stabilizers about enough to raise the wheels by half an inch an inch or so. So the tires aren't anywhere near off the ground, just unloaded by a few hundred pounds. This lets me use the parking brake to hold against dragging, while making the whole thing more stable. I've never actually lifted the rear wheels; seems unnecessary and risky for the machine.

Now if I could just figure out why the loader creaks so much since the dealer's first 50-hour service. he says it's OK, so I hope that if anything breaks, it happens w/in warranty.

On a slightly related topic, what do people do for grease guns? I had to bend the end of mine to reach the lower BH swing pivot zerk. Seems like there ought to be a more elegant solution.

Thanks as always-

I did just what you did in that picture with the other K brand machine and bent the curl cylinder, I didn't notice it till I went to dig up another stump much smaller.
I feel the weight of the stump hanging on the bucket overstressed the cylinder in full extension.
I have not done that since and a few hundred stumps later it is still straight.

I know I have all that stuff too, I was only thinking of convenience, if you are bush hogging or something and just need a couple quick shots of grease, with the rechargable you just hit the fittings and you are done and don't have to wait for your compressor to air up and drag out airlines etc.

I see what you mean, but I couldn't pick up on it because I always grease everything on the loader, backhoe and mower with every 4-5 hours of use. I can't see a time that "I" would need to give something a quick shot, but it makes sense for anyone who doesn't grease as much as I do.

I know a lot of people don't do it nearly as often as I.

You're right, it takes a little to set up, but I do all of it the same session, and then don't worry until the next 4-5 hours of use.

One like you mention would come in handy in the field, on a job. I've never used one of that type. Might be something good to get since I've been doing more jobs that last longer than my normal greasing schedule.
Good food for thought, thanks.
