Kioti CK30 HST
Bought me a new CK30 last month, /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif have put 40 hours on it, runs good just changed the oil, and checked the trans fluid which is a the bottom of dip stick, was full new no leaks found is this normal ? also should I just go ahead and change it, or just add some and change the filter ? It has 2 filters should I change both or just the tranny one? I read the manual but am confused, first tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Congrats on the tractor purchase !

Just to be safe, I would change the tranny fluid and both filters and fill to the full mark. Then check it every 10 hours or so for a couple of months to make sure there is no leak.

Follow the level checking directions exactly with regards to cold or warm tractor, and all cylinders retracted or extended. Since the reservoir serves the cylinders it is important to do it the same way each time you check the level.

Change the fluid and both filters per the table.

I believe Kioti suggests changing all fluids at or aroung 50 hours. My 50 hour service included filters and all fluids, hydraulic, engine and front end. Maybe check with your dealer to be sure

Yep, to flush out all the manufacturing debris, break in debris, and whatever else may be in Korean oil. I found the fluid that came out of the front axle was real thin like hydro oil compared to the 90 weight I put back in.

Make sure that when you check the fluid level with the dip stick that you pull out the dip stick and wipe it off then re-insert and then pull it out and read it. We have found faulty reading if we read the dip stick on the first pull out. What happen is that while running the tractor, air can make its way into the dip stick tube (which is sealed at the top by the dip stick), thus a faulty reading.

You should change both filters. One is for the hydralics; 3pt lift, front bucket, steering, etc and the other is for the hydro drive. The oil all comes from the same main sump and both could have manufacturing material in them. I had a good bit of metal shavings on the main drain plug magnet at the 50 hour change.

As far as the oil, my dealer said no need to change it at 50 hours but the manual suggests to do it and I figured it was better to do it then to later say ah @#$%. Besides, you may have some moisture in it from normal condensation.

As far as it being low now, highbeam mentioned the cylinders. They should be all retracted and Weldon gave you a good tip about checking with the dip stick. I always keep mine at the top mark of the dip stick. That way when working with the fel or bh, the level shouldn't go below the low mark. Derek has a good suggestion to check for leaks but make sure you check the oil level the same way each time.

My front axle had hydralic oil also. The manual calls for 90 weight gear lube. Five quart bottles will be the proper fill. Make sure you remove both drain plugs to drain it all. I'm just a stickler on service with all my toys. Usually makes them last longer.

The axle was the trickiest. Pull both plugs but also rock the axle on it's pivot to get it all. Spin the wheels to get some more fluid out of the diff too. Then on refilling, it will appear that you have filled it after only adding a little. Rock the axle, spin the wheel, even drive it around a little near the end. I used 5 quarts and it still shows a little low on the sight glass. I wanted as complete a change as I could when I saw that the factory fill was a break in charge of hydrofluid.

Thank you for all of your help, I think I will change out the fluid, and replace both filters, one more question does it make any difference if the tractor is cold or warm when you check the fluid level ? It was cold about 10 deg when I last checked it, and I did not warm up the tracor.

I always check it when it's warm.
I would also warm up the tractor by driving it around some and moving the loader in order to cycle and warm up the oil before changing it. Oil flows more freely when its warm.

HIGHBEAM, excellent advice on the front diff fluid refill. I checked mine a few days after changing/refilling and the sight glass showed no fluid. Topped it off agian and now it's OK. Now I know to move it around next time to make sure it's full!

Highbeam advised a very important part of refilling the front axle. After draining, mine showed full with only 4 quarts poured in. Thought the manual was a misprint and I didn't measure what came out. I checked the oil level after about an hour's work and the last quart was needed and topped mine off. That's why TBN is great. Everyone shares their tricks and knowledge.

I personally don't think it makes any real difference, but it should be warm when you drain it so that it all comes out. If you do warm up first before just checking the level, make sure you let it sit for a little while to allow all the oil to drain down to the pan before checking.

Just had my 50 hrs tune up done this morning by the dealer, all filter including the diesel filter was change, in my view this is important due to the breaking period, as for the front axal, they use the hydro oil, the 90 gear oil is simply to rich for the cold weather and would actually create resistance, finally and I can't stress this enough keep an eye out for those nuts and bolts as they loosen up...cag

Any particular reason you changed the diesel fuel filter? I thought the interval on that was way out. I sure wish they had a draincock on the bowl but at least it is clear.

Are all Kioti keys the same? I've bent mine once and wouldn't mind a spare spare on hand.

There is very little chance of metal shavings in the fuel tank never the less, better safe than sorry, I believe the owners manual requires all filter change the first 50hrs I'm not sure, as for the keys, they are all the same for the CK30...cag
