CK 20 Won't Start!

Sorry to hear about your problems Aosbill. My CK30hst has ran flawlessly for four years now and at times has sat outside in the rain. It also works out pretty hard plowing around 100 inches of snow each year. Maybe I just got lucky. I would agree about the wire harness plugs. They should take some measure to prevent corrosion. The ignition switch is something mounted in the wrong place which lets water and melting snow enter it. My simple fix, especially during snow plowing, was to get a rubber slip on table/cane cap that I found at a local Lowe's store. It had an approx. 1 1/4 inch diameter. I cut it shorter and made sure it would fit over the ignition mounting screw ring. I put a small slit in the top for the key to slide through tightly and it stays with the key. I never get water, dirt, or anything in the switch. I will admit the idea wasn't totally mine. I just copied the same idea from the key for my Honda ATV. Gave the key an umbrella and all is fine.

Well guess what happened to me. About a week ago I went to turn the key on my CK30HST and the lights came on but the starter "stuttered" like there was not enough power. Odd, so I looked at everything and the battery seemed fine. When I tried again, everything was fine.

Last night I go to start the tractor, as I turn the key switch all the usual lights come on for a split second and then just as the glow plug light came on the whole thing went dead. There must be a short someplace. This post has been helpful so I'll follow all the steps here but ugh, I gotta feed a round bale today and it is not convenient due to Christmas.

I will post what I find but thanks for the tips in the thread everyone.

Well I'll be hornswaggled. The only problem was that the negative lead to the battery was loose. Hooray!
